Message From Mr. Faehndrich
Principal of Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School
As we head into the weekend, the forecast is calling for a significant snowstorm, with the potential for more than a foot of snow. While it’s too early to make any decisions, this type of weather may impact school operations early next week. As always, we will continue to monitor conditions closely and communicate any updates as soon as decisions are made.
In the meantime, I want to remind everyone to stay safe, and if a snow day does come our way, enjoy the time with family and enjoy the fun that winter can bring. Whether it’s sledding, snowmen, or a cozy day at home, these moments offer a welcome pause from our routines and a chance to reset.
I am incredibly grateful for our EMS families, students, and staff. Your flexibility, patience, and support, especially during unpredictable moments, are what allow us to navigate challenges together with positivity and care. Thank you for being such a strong and supportive community.
Stay safe, stay warm, and enjoy the weekend.

Outstanding Winter Concerts!
Congratulations to our 7th and 8th grade musicians and the entire EMS Music Department on two outstanding Winter Concerts. The performances showcased not only talent and hard work, but also the confidence, growth, and pride our students bring to the stage. We are already looking forward to seeing that momentum continue at our Spring Concerts.
A special congratulations to Ms. Sharontina Liu, who conducted the Seventh & Eighth Grade Orchestra in her first concert at EMS! Ms. Liu brings an impressive musical background to our school, holding degrees in Instrumental Performance and Music Education from NYU. She is a skilled violinist, pianist, and vocalist, with experience teaching and conducting ensembles across multiple grade levels, and has been recognized as an NYU Honors Scholar.
Principal in the Spotlight: Career Exploration
For her Career Exploration project in Ms. Morgan’s class, 7th grader Sofia D. interviewed Principal Faehndrich about his career in education and his role as a school principal. The video below highlights Sofia’s preparation, confidence, and strong interviewing skills. A special thank you to Ms. Morgan for designing a meaningful project that gives students the opportunity to explore careers through authentic, real-world experiences.
