March Calendar
Lets Learn About π (Pi) while we eat Pie!
March 14th (3/14)
Here’s why Pi is cool:
Pi Day is a fun celebration of the number π (pi). A special number in mathematics. If you take any circle, measure all the way around it (called the circumference), and divide that by the distance across the middle (called the diameter), you always get Pi (about 3.14). It’s a day to see how math can be fun and delicious!
Below are some ways Park Street plans to celebrate π (pi) day with your children.
Pi Pie Party 🎂
- Bring circular treats like pies, cookies, or pizzas.
- Measure the circumference (the edge) and diameter (the line across the center) to see how they relate to Pi (about 3.14).
Pi Digit Challenge 🧠
- See how many digits of Pi students can memorize.
- Reward participants with certificates or small treats.
Pi Poetry (Pi-ku) ✍️
- Write a "Pi-ku" poem (like a Haiku):
- First line: 3 syllables
- Second line: 1 syllable
- Third line: 4 syllables
Pie Fractions 🍕
- Use pies or circular foods (like pizzas) to practice fractions.
- Have students slice, count, and talk about fractions (like 1/2, 1/4, etc.).
Pi Necklace Craft 🎨
- Assign each digit of Pi (3.14159…) a color bead.
- String beads in the correct Pi sequence to make colorful necklaces or bracelets.

We are looking for any parent volunteers or community members who can volunteer their time to share their career choices with students in grades K-5.

- 3-5 will be inside with presenters rotating between classes. Recommended format includes related school subjects, education, training, personal skills, typical day, child friendly games and presentations, hands on activities or visuals, etc.
Please free to contact Dr. Zimmerman at 770-429-3180 extension 7017
or
Via email at jzimmerman@marietta-city.k12.ga.us if you have any questions or would like to volunteer.
Please contact on or before Monday, March 10, 2025.
Car Rider Safety
The safety of both students and staff are of the most importance!
- We ask all vehicles to stay in line during car rider drop-off and pick-up. We are moving as quickly and safely as possible.
- Cutting in or pulling around other vehicles can create dangerous situations and disrupt the flow of traffic.
- Following the designated procedures helps maintain a safe and efficient process for everyone.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation in keeping our school community safe. Thank you for setting a positive example and prioritizing student safety.
REMINDER: Early Checkout Policy
- Please limit early pick-up of children to emergencies and appointments.
- Unless it's an emergency, no student will be released between 2:45 and 3:15.
- If a child is out for any portion of the school day, the missed time is recorded as a tardy. A note sent in the morning will help us to have your child ready.
- Parents will be asked to wait for the dismissal bell. Come to the office to check out a student.
- Please be prepared to present photo identification upon request.
- NOTE: Any adult (18 years or older) must be registered in the ASPEN portal. Enrolling parent / legal guardian may add or remove an individual.
