Lake City High School
2026 Fall Newsletter

A Message from Mr. Kelly
As we move through the fall semester at Lake City High School, I want to take a moment to recognize the great things happening across our school and highlight a few important pieces of our continued growth as a learning community.
Attendance Matters! One of the most important factors in student success is being at school consistently. Every day in the classroom provides opportunities for students to learn, collaborate, build relationships, and make progress toward their goals. While we understand that illness and unexpected circumstances happen, regular attendance makes a significant difference. Thank you for partnering with us to make sure our students are here, engaged, and ready to learn each day.
Teacher Collaboration and Continuous Improvement. On Fridays, our teachers dedicate time to collaborating with colleagues, examining student data, and identifying ways to strengthen instruction. This work is incredibly valuable. By looking closely at student progress, sharing ideas, and reflecting on what is working, our teachers can make informed decisions about how best to support every learner. These conversations help us celebrate successes, identify areas for growth, and ensure that our instructional practices continue to meet the needs of our students.
Students Challenging Themselves. I am also proud of the effort our students are putting into their learning. Across our classrooms, students are challenging themselves with rigorous coursework, tackling difficult concepts, asking questions, and working through challenges. Growth happens when students are willing to step outside their comfort zones, embrace productive struggle, and learn from mistakes. We want our students to recognize that success is not simply about getting the right answer; it is also about developing perseverance, confidence, and the skills needed to succeed beyond high school.
At Lake City High School, we are committed to working together to create an environment where every student feels supported, challenged, and encouraged to reach their full potential. The partnership between students, families, and staff makes this possible, and I appreciate the dedication and commitment each of you brings to our school community.
Thank you for being part of what makes Lake City High School such a special place. I look forward to seeing all that our students and staff accomplish as we continue through the school year.

Attendance Pro
We are using a new text-based system called Attendance Pro to keep you informed when your child is absent, and to make it simple for you to respond, ask questions, and share notes, all without a phone call.
Here's what's new:
You'll receive a text when your child is absent. A message will come from 1-208-981-9196 twice a day (approx. 11:15am & 2:00pm). Please save this number in your contacts so you never miss it.
You can text back directly. Reply to confirm an absence, share the reason, or ask a question. It's that simple.
You can send photos of notes by text. Need to submit a parent note or a doctor's note? Just take a photo and text it to the same number. No need to drop anything off at the office.
You can proactively text us. Know that your child will be absent? Send us a text to 1-208-981-9196 and we’ll update the record accordingly.
The texts are powered by our AI attendance assistant, and every response goes directly to our attendance team and your child's record is updated accordingly.
If you have questions or need help, please reach out to us. We're grateful for your partnership and committed to making every school day count.
Thank you.
*Attendance Pro is NOT used to get your student out of class early. If you need to do that, please call our attendance phone number: 1-208-769-2943 or email: lchs.attendance@cdaschools.org

As we head into the fall and winter months, we want to help keep our school community healthy! Encourage frequent handwashing, lots of water, and getting plenty of rest to help prevent the spread of germs. Thank you for helping us keep our students, staff, and families healthy this season!
