Randall Family Weekly Update - Week 2
Dear Randall Families,
Today, our nation pauses to observe Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance. On September 11, 2001, our country experienced a tragic series of events that forever altered our history. Though many of our students were not yet born on that day, the lessons of bravery, unity, and resilience born from that moment remain vital to who we are today.
September 11th is a day to remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost, including the brave first responders—firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and everyday citizens—who ran toward danger to help others. Their courage reminds us of the extraordinary selflessness that defines human goodness in times of immense adversity.
Today, in our morning announcements, we encouraged students to reflect on September 11th. We do not only look back at sadness; we focus on the incredible spirit of unity and kindness that followed. People across the country came together to comfort neighbors, support strangers, and rebuild stronger than before.
For our students, today was an opportunity to think about how we can embody those same values in our daily lives:
Show Compassion: Check in on a friend, reach out to someone sitting alone, or lend a helping hand without being asked.
Honor Local Heroes: Take a moment to thank the firefighters, police officers, healthcare workers, and service members who keep our local community safe every day.
Practice Unity: Work together in your classrooms and hallways to build a culture where everyone feels respected, valued, and safe.
Throughout the day, teachers facilitated age-appropriate discussions and activities focused on service, citizenship, and unity.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness and respect as we observe this important day together as one school community.
Thank you,
Ms. Garcia

From Student Services
Math Steering Committee
Dear Randall families,
I am writing to share an exciting update regarding our ongoing commitment to providing the highest quality educational experience for all students at Randall. This school year, we are establishing a new Math Steering Committee to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of our mathematics programming and to develop thoughtful recommendations to our School Board for the 2027-28 school year.
As part of this work, the committee will specifically review our current criteria and processes regarding Math Acceleration at Randall. Our goal is to ensure that our pathways are mathematically coherent, robust, and supportive of each student's unique learning needs.
To achieve this, we intend to partner closely with parents. Parent input is essential, and we want to ensure that your input is heard, respected, and considered throughout this process. Our goal is to have one parent / family per grade level for the following grades: 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade and one parent / family for 7th and 8th grade.
Committee Details & Commitment:
Composition: The committee will include parents, Math teaching staff, our Gifted and Talented (G&T) Coordinator, and school administration.
Meetings: The commitment would be approximately 4 Wednesday evenings throughout the months of October, November, and December.
Hours: Meetings will take place from 4:00 - 6:00 PM.
We are looking for collaborative parent representatives to join us in this meaningful work. If you are interested in serving on the Math Steering Committee, please reach out to me directly by Friday, September 25, 2026 via email at agarcia@randall.k12.wi.us.
Thank you for your continued partnership and dedication to our students and school.
Sincerely,
Alex Garcia-Bankowski

Speak Up Speak Out Program for Randall
Randall School is pleased to announce the launch of the SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT confidential tipline as part of our school safety efforts. Tiplines are used to identify threats to schools, and for concerns impacting school age youth such as bullying, drug use, suicidal thoughts and more. Schools that promote and use tiplines have less violence overall. The SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT (SUSO) tipline is run by the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Office of School Safety. Parents and students, this tool is available for anyone to use to help keep the Randall Community safe!
Randall students will engage in learning about how to advocate for their own (and others') safety and well-being over the next month in partnership with our counselor, Mrs. Roth, as well as other members of our student services team. We encourage you to speak with your child about the importance of communicating when/if they feel that their safety may be compromised.

Thank you in advance for all of your support!
