Andrew Lie hopes everyone is having a nice summer and taking time to rest.

Kalimah Salahuddin recently attended a school board partners educational conference and was proud to be in a space with members from across the country, especially those focusing on equity and closing learning gaps.

Rosie Tejada attended the summer school graduation ceremony and was excited to see 32 district students earning their high school diploma. She gave a shout-out to summer school principal Dr. Sterling He for a job well done.

Jerome Gallegos shared a letter he received from a parent praising summer school science teacher Donna Nava and the support she provided her daughter.

Sherrett Walker had nothing to report during this meeting.

Superintendent Toni Presta is excited for next week's administrator retreat on July 27-28, along with the District's Welcome Back event on August 7. She is inspired and excited to start this school year and the positive work that is to be had.

She gave a shout-out to summer school principal Dr. Sterling He for doing an excellent job with this year's program graduation, along with Dr. Dennie Marenco for serving as a mentor to Dr. He.

During this meeting, the JUHSD Board of Trustees appointed Scott Carson to the position of Vice Principal I at Jefferson High School. Mr. Carson joins the District after most recently working as a principal in Millbrae, California. He brings a wealth of educational and administrative experience. He is a strong relationship builder and has a passion for equity. He is excited to join JUHSD and the Jefferson High School Community. Welcome to Grizzly Territory, Mr. Carson!

The next regularly scheduled Board Meeting will take place on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. Public open session begins at 7:00 pm (unless otherwise noted) on the JUHSD YouTube channel and in person at the District Office.
