Every Student Future Ready
Monthly Newsletter - February 2025
Dear Families,
As we enter the month of February, we want to take a moment to emphasize how your involvement at home plays a crucial role in your child’s success. Here are a few simple ways to stay connected and support your child’s learning:
Stay Engaged with Their School Day
Ask about their school day! Questions like, “What was something new you learned today?” or “What was your favorite part of class?” can spark meaningful conversations and help you understand their experiences better.
Encourage Perseverance
Remind your child that it’s okay to make mistakes. Emphasizing that effort and persistence are key to growth can help them develop a positive mindset towards challenges.
Celebrate Small Wins
Whether it’s mastering a new math concept, finishing a challenging book, or showing kindness to a classmate, every success deserves recognition. Celebrating these small wins boosts their confidence and motivation.
Create a Routine
Setting aside regular time for reading, homework, or quiet focus helps establish a routine. Consistency builds confidence and reinforces the importance of learning.
Support When You Need It
We want every family to feel supported when questions or concerns arise. Here’s the best way to start:
1️⃣ Your Child’s Classroom Teacher: Reach out to your child’s teacher with any academic, social, or classroom-specific concerns. They know your child best in the school setting and can provide valuable insight.
2️⃣ School Counselor or Support Staff: If additional support is needed, the counselor or other support staff can assist with social-emotional concerns or academic resources.
3️⃣ Building Principal: If concerns remain unresolved after speaking with the teacher and counselor, please reach out to one of the principals for further support.
Open and consistent communication helps us work together effectively to ensure every child feels supported and successful at school. Thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s education!
Sincerely,
Damian Switzer

February's Character Trait: Caring
February’s character trait is Caring, which means showing kindness, concern, and compassion for others. For elementary students, this includes helping classmates, sharing, listening to friends, and being mindful of others' feelings. To support this trait at home and in school, families can:
- Model Caring Behavior: Demonstrate kindness and compassion in daily interactions.
- Discuss Empathy: Talk about the importance of understanding how others feel and why it’s important to be supportive.
- Encourage Acts of Kindness: Suggest simple ways to show care, such as writing notes to classmates, helping with chores, or volunteering in the community.
- Celebrate Caring Actions: Recognize and make a note of caring behavior when observed in their children or peers, reinforcing positive behavior.
- Create a Caring Environment: Foster open conversations about feelings at home, allowing children to express their emotions and learn about others.
By cultivating a caring mindset, we can help children develop strong, positive relationships with their peers and create a supportive school environment.

Preparing for Winter Weather
During this season, we are enlisting families' help to ensure children are dressed appropriately for the weather. Hats, gloves or mittens, and boots are essential to keeping them safe and warm during the winter months. This is especially important for MG students who may not always want to dress for the elements. Thank you for your support!
Happy Birthday, George Washington & Abraham Lincoln!
