Important Information
Household Income Form
The Household Income Form (HIF) is a helpful tool to collect household income data when National School Lunch Program information is not available for a student. These data are used for a variety of educational purposes including calculation of pupil weights in the school funding formula, determination of eligibility for other household benefits such as affordable connectivity (internet) benefits and educator loan forgiveness qualification.
The Household Income Form is provided in both a PDF format and an online format. Both versions address FAQs such as: which form to use under which circumstances and how to report income status in data collections are available on the Household Income Form webpage. In addition, the Agency of Education has provided LEAs with “Fill the Form” materials for parent communication to encourage families to complete these forms. Data Town Hall meetings were held in early Spring and late Summer with registrars, business managers and data managers present. The agenda covered the purpose of the Household Income From, reviewed the forms, and reviewed the process of managing and reporting the household income data. For further information, please reach out to your SU Data Manager or email Jamie.Jarvis@vermont.gov.
Walk and Roll to School Day is October 8, 2025

Arrival Information
The school day begins at 8:00 AM and ends at 2:45 PM There is supervision on campus beginning at 7:35 AM. Families dropping off children should do so in the lower parking lot when there is an adult present and after 7:35 AM. From September until Thanksgiving, all learners will have an outdoor recess until 7:55 AM. From November until April, grade level clusters take turns playing outside on the blacktop for morning recess. Learners who arrive after 8:05 AM must report to the office to sign in before going to class. The adult dropping off the learner should escort them to the office.
Please be aware that critical instruction begins at 8:00 AM. If your child is tardy, he or she is starting the day by missing academic instruction or social emotional learning and connections to their class. Please make sure your child arrives by 7:55 AM.
Car Riders/Lower Lot Procedures
Car drop offs and pick ups should occur in the lower lot in the morning and afternoon.
Please pull all the way forward so we can unload or load as many students at one time as possible, it really does make it go faster.
Please remain in your vehicle, although we understand that some younger students still need help with seatbelts, if possible, please work with your child to be able to buckle their own seat belt.
Please remember that student safety is our priority. Please do not park in the lot and ask your child to come to you or pass other vehicles in line.
Please be patient, we're all working hard to make these times run smoothly.
Dress Code for Learners
Learners are expected to dress for school in a manner that contributes to an environment that is conducive to learner learning and success. As the weather warms up be mindful of the dress code when sending students to school. The Student Handbooks states, "Dress should not expose the chest, abdomen, navel, buttocks, or underwear. Shoes must be worn at all times. Hats or hoods are ONLY allowed in classrooms with teacher permission." Thank you!
Toys, Games & Trading Cards
Please have students leave toys, games and Pokemon or other trading cards (or similar items) at home. Thank you!
Smart Snacks
In compliance with the Federal Child Nutrition Act, the RNESU Wellness Policy states:
“...foods provided, but not sold to students during the school day, may include food that is part of a classroom celebration or provided by parents or community organizations free of charge. Food provided but not sold will, at a minimum, comply with the Smart Snacks Standards.”
When supplying food for celebrations at school, please keep this in mind.

All About the Music Room!
🎶 Hi everyone! I'm Mrs. Bruce, and I've had the joy of teaching music at Lothrop for the past 10 years! In our music class, we dive into all the amazing parts of music—singing, playing instruments, dancing, listening, composing, and most importantly… having FUN! 🎵
🎶 Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders have been making music magic!
We’ve been singing, dancing, and playing together—and having so much fun while doing it!
Some of our favorite songs so far include:
🐸 "Frog in the Meadow"
🔪 "Chop Chop Chippity Chop"
🌊 "Down by the Bay"
🦒 "Giraffes Can’t Dance"
🦆 "The Duck Song"
There’s never a dull moment in the music room—and we’re just getting started! 🎵💃🕺
Chorus
🎤 Exciting news from the music room—chorus is off to a fantastic start! All students in grades 3–6 are invited to join, and so far, we’ve had two amazing rehearsals filled with energy and great singing!
We’re thrilled to have 66 students in chorus this year—that’s 64% of our 3rd–6th graders… WOW! 🎶 It’s so inspiring to see so many students coming together to make music.
🎼 Rehearsal Schedule:
3rd & 4th Grade Chorus – Monday mornings
5th & 6th Grade Chorus – Wednesday mornings (temporarily meeting on Thursdays for the next 2 weeks)
We’re off to a strong start, and I can’t wait to hear what this amazing group will accomplish!
🎺 Calling all 4th Grade Band Families!
If your child has signed up for band—how exciting! Instruments have been arriving and filling the music room with anticipation, and we are so close to kicking things off!
Right now, we're busy behind the scenes working to create the perfect lesson schedule for each student. Keep an eye out in the next few days—we’ll be sending home your child’s band lesson schedule soon!
Thank you so much for your patience as we make sure every student gets a time that works best for them. We can't wait to get started and begin making music together!
🎶 Band is back—and we’re off to a fantastic start!
This week marks our first round of 5th and 6th grade band lessons, and things are already sounding great! Your child will be coming home with their band folder or piano binder this week. Please help them remember to bring it back to school on their lesson day, along with their instrument—these are their tools for success! 🎷🥁🎹
At home, a little practice goes a long way! Here’s what we’re working on this week:
🎺 Band students:
“Concert Bb Major Scale Study”
“Spooky Scary Skeletons” (just in time for fall!)
- “Walking” from their binders
Thanks for your continued support—let’s keep the music growing at home and at school!
