Get to Know the Student Assistance Program

The Student Assistance Program provides a wide variety of behavioral health education, prevention, intervention, and recovery support services to students who have been impacted by substance use or are at risk of using substances. I meet with students individually or in small groups to provide psychoeducation, coping and refusal skills, wellness activities, and referrals to additional community resources and support (as needed). In addition, I take part in presentations, prevention campaigns within the school, and work with staff and families.

The goals of the program include:

  1. Preventing and reducing substance use among teens.
  2. Improving school attendance and progress toward graduation through direct intervention services.
  3. Promoting a positive school climate through school-wide activities and campaigns
