Parent Newsletter - October 9, 2025
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Young Elementary Families,
This Thursday, we celebrated our 9-weeks awards ceremony, recognizing our students’ achievements over the first part of the school year. It was truly inspiring to see our students honored for both their academic accomplishments and their character. We are so proud of each and every one of them!
Fall is also bringing the joy of learning beyond the classroom, as our field trips are starting for this semester. These experiences provide wonderful opportunities for students to explore, engage, and make meaningful connections with what they are learning in school. We can’t wait to see the memories they will create and the lessons they will carry with them.
Thank you for your continued support in making our school a place where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
With Eagle Pride,
Andrew Hohman

Shoes That Fit Fundraiser
A message from Coach Harrison!
Help us ensure every child comes to school with confidence and comfort! Many students in our community lack properly fitting shoes, which impacts their ability to learn, play, and thrive. By supporting our Shoes That Fit Fundraiser, you’ll provide new, well-fitting shoes to children who need them most. Together, we can make sure no child is held back by something as simple as shoes.
Every dollar makes a difference—thank you for helping us change lives, one pair at a time!

Counselor's Corner
Character Trait of the Month
In Counseling Lessons This Week...
October is Bullying Prevention Month, so each class will have a lesson where we discuss what bullying is, how it can affect others, and their role in preventing bullying from happening at our school.
PreK: We will discuss what bullying is. Then we will reflect on how many times acts of bullying or meanness from others can make us feel negative emotions like sadness. We will recognize sadness in our bodies, what it looks like in other people, and what we can do to help ourselves when we feel sad.
Kinder: We will read “Llama, Llama Bully Goat” and discuss what choices can make someone be considered a “bully.” Then we will complete an activity where students will identify what is a bullying choice and what is not.
1st Grade: We will read “The One.” We will discuss what can happen if just one person stands up to a bully and the ripple effect it can have.
2nd Grade: We will read “The Recess Queen” and discuss what characteristics make someone a “bully” and why they may make “bullying” choices. Then we will plan how to be a friend instead of a bully.
