Inside Scoop
Hockinson High School - 2025-2026
February 27, 2026
Hello, Hawks:
What a gorgeous day! Is it really February? Lots in the Scoop today!
We are proud to celebrate our incredible student-athletes who represented Hockinson at the State Swim Meet in Seattle and the Mat Classic in Tacoma over the Mid-Winter Break.
Ryder Hough had an outstanding performance at State Swim Meet:
* 4th Place – 50 Freestyle (22.26)
* 5th Place – 100 Freestyle (49.07)
Competing at this level is an accomplishment in itself, and Ryder delivered two top-five finishes against the best in Washington. As a junior, we look forward to watching him compete again next year.
Our wrestlers also made their mark on the podium at the Mat Classic.
* Teagan Trenda (Senior) – 2nd Place, 130 lb
* Makenzie Carter (Freshman) – 6th Place, 105 lb
* Austin Wallace (Junior) – 7th Place, 138 lb
These athletes demonstrated resilience, discipline, and competitive excellence on the biggest stage. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and the way they represented our school community.
We are proud of all of our athletes who made it to the state competition this weekend and represented Hockinson High School giving it their best.
Tonight and tomorrow, members of our outstanding band will be performing in Solo and Ensembles at Union High School.

Counselor, College, and Career Information
Providence Portland Surgery Viewing
What an amazing experience today! A group of students was invited by Providence Portland Medical Center to view a heart surgery performed by Dr. Gary Ott.
Students were able to observe the surgery while a physicians assistant walked them through the procedure and answered questions ranging from what tools were being used to what music they listen to in the operating room (yacht rock, if you were curious)! They also learned about the educational and career paths of the whole team.
Thank you to Providence and Dr. Ott for this incredible opportunity.
FBLA Trail Work
Shout out to AmeriCorps Rep and Coach, Kyle Peterson, for leading our FBLA students as they improved the trail at HMS!
