Power Notes-4th Quarter Opener
April 7th, 2025-April 25th, 2025
Vision: At Colonel Richardson Middle School (CRMS) we create a safe, supportive environment where students achieve academic success, develop life skills, and build confidence for the future!
Dear CRMS Families,
As we begin the 4th quarter at CRMS, it’s hard to believe how fast this school year has flown by! While summer may be on the horizon, now is the time for students to stay focused and finish strong. Middle school grades do matter— not just for honor roll and awards, but for building habits that lead to success in high school and beyond. Consistent effort, good attendance, and a strong finish can make a big difference.
We also want students to know that their hard work doesn’t go unnoticed. We are in the process of planning some exciting end-of-year activities and incentives, including a school-wide field trip to Washington, D.C. This trip will be tied to students' attendance during MCAP testing and their effort and behavior throughout the testing window. Teachers will be monitoring for students who show up each day, try their best, and stay engaged— because that’s what helps make our school strong!
Encourage your student to take pride in their work and to see this final quarter as a chance to shine. Whether it’s a last push to improve a grade, showing up every day ready to learn, or putting in full effort during state testing, everything counts.
We’re proud of all our CRMS students and can’t wait to celebrate their efforts in a big way!
Take Care. Be Well.

Tracking Student Attendance
In Maryland, student attendance is calculated based on the number of days a student is present in school. While we do differentiate between lawful (excused) absences and unlawful (unexcused) absences, all absences—regardless of the reason—impact a student’s overall attendance record. Lawful absences include reasons such as illness, medical appointments, family emergencies, religious observances when properly documented or other absences with principal's approval (ex: family vacation that is communicated ahead of time). Unlawful absences occur when a student misses school without an approved reason.
Regular attendance is essential for student success, and we appreciate your partnership in ensuring your child is at school as much as possible. If you have any questions about attendance policies or need to submit documentation for an absence, please reach out to the school office.
Student Technology Announcement
Starting November 1, 2024, CCPS will begin to obligate students for damaged and missing technology equipment. The CCPS Student Technology Obligation Program is designed to promote students' responsible use of technology and reduce damage costs through a tier-based pricing system. This program aligns with the Technology Obligation Regulation (Reference: III.31.71R) and the CCPS Terms of Use Agreement governing the use of technology by students.https://www.carolineschools.org/page/technology-student-obligation-program
Please contact Mrs. Jane Towers at 410-479-1462 or email her at towers.jane@ccpsstaff for your attendance and registration concerns.
