4/5/6 On-Site Writer's Workshop

4th, 5th, and 6th graders will be coming into MVS on Thursday, October 2nd for a writing workshop from 9:00am to 11:00am. Attendance is mandatory. Students need to come with a charged laptop and charger.

Juniors- CLEP for English 3

All Juniors taking English 3 will working towards taking the CLEP exam at the end of the semester with the possibility of earning college credit. As a part of the next quarter of work, juniors will complete the Modern States review course. Those students who average a 75 on quizzes and make at least a 75 on the final within Modern States will receive a voucher to take the corresponding CLEP test for free! In order to make sure juniors are prepared and confident for this exam, the English 3 teacher, Maria Greene, will be hosting two coffee house study sessions at Vienna Coffee House on Tuesday, September 30 and Tuesday, November 4, both at 9:00 AM. Students will receive an email from Maria Greene with more details.

Seniors--- TN Promise Scholarship is now open!

TN Promise is a last dollar scholarship to community college or technical school in the state of TN (Pellissippi, Roane State, Walter State, TCAT). Applications due by November 3 online at www.TNPromise.gov. Students must also complete the FAFSA by April 1, 2026 (FAFSA required for other state scholarship programs as well). The 2025-26 FAFSA opens on October 1, 2025. As a part of the TN Promise program, students will be assigned a mentor through the partner agency, TN Achieves; students will be required to complete community service; and students must attend MANDATORY meetings (Date and time will be released soon.)

Please note, students without a TSAC account must first create an account prior to completing the TN Promise application. The TN Promise application is housed within the student’s TSAC account so for some students completing the application may be a two-step process.

Seniors--- Free TN College Application-- Apply Now!

The state of TN identifies September as College Application and Exploration Month. Several post-secondary institutions will offer a "free application week" at some point during the month including UT system schools, MTSU, ETSU, TN Tech, and Vanderbilt. Some institutions will waive application fees for the entire month! See the attachment for a complete list of schools participating. Click on the picture below for the details.

Blount County College Fair

The annual Blount County College Fair is this week!

When: Wednesday, September 24, 5:30–7:00 pm
Where: Clayton Center for the Arts, Maryville College
Why: Meet 50+ representatives from colleges, universities, technical, and art schools

9-12 Ready Graduate Advisor

Maryville City Schools has invested in staff and programs to help students start thinking about what happens after high school and what could be great for each of them. Throughout this year, we will hear more about the Ready Graduate Center and a piece of software called School Links that will assist your student on this journey. Our 9-12 Ready Graduate Advisor is Wes Lambert. Please reach out to him if you have any questions.
