A Note From Dr. Neubeck A Note From Dr. Neubeck

I hope everyone made it through the snow this week as we came off of Spring Break. I hope the start of the 4th quarter has been great for your students. I also hope that you took the opportunity to attend the presentation by Joe Schmit this past Wednesday in the new high school auditorium. We had over 400 people signed up to attend.

It was a great presentation. Joe is the author of many books and one is titled "Silent Impact: Influence Through Purpose, Persistence, and Passion." If you have not read the book, I encourage you to read it, better yet, make it a family read as it is just as important for students as it is for adults. If one looks at Joe's ideas around Purpose, Persistence, Passion, and just doing what one can to make an impact on others, it is exactly what we are trying to do through the Profile of a Graduate and the six Cs. We want our students to find the passion which will often drive their purpose, while being persistent to find success.

Joe talks about how Joe Mauer made a silent impact while he was in high school and as a professional baseball player. We hope that all of our students use their time and talents to make similar positive impacts, not only in our schools but in our community and beyond. Parents, our students learn much by what they see. When they watch you, are they seeing you living out your passions, being persistent toward a goal, and finding ways to make your own silent impact? I encourage you to think about this and help us teach your children about what this means and looks like in everyday living.

I see silent impacts all the time when I walk through the halls, attend different school events, and walk through the Byron Community. These small and silent impacts are what makes Byron a great place to learn and live. Thank You!

Go Bears!
