Principal Message
Dear Families,
As we head into next week, we want to make sure our students are fully prepared and set up for success, especially with our upcoming testing!
NH SAS Testing Next Week
This is an important opportunity for students to showcase all of their learning this year. We encourage you to speak with your child about giving their best effort on these assessments. Please help us ensure a smooth testing experience by doing the following:
Arrival: Students must arrive on time each day.
Chromebooks: Devices should be fully charged before arriving at school.
Headphones: Students need to bring their wired headphones for testing.
Breakfast: Please make sure your child has a hearty breakfast to start their day focused and energized.
Electronics Policy During Testing
To maintain the integrity of the assessments:
All electronic devices must be turned off and put away during testing—including cell phones, smart watches, iPads, Kindles, and similar devices
Incentives & Raffle Opportunities
This year, we’re excited to again offer an incentive program tied to the NH SAS testing for those participating. Students can earn tickets based on their efforts and positive testing behaviors. These tickets can be entered into raffles for the chance to win some great prizes! Please review the expectations with your child so they can make the most of this opportunity.
Students Opt Out
If a student has opt out of NH SAS testing, they will complete alternative assignments for reading, writing, math and science. This work will be done during the duration of the testing periods and may or not not be inside the classroom.
Early Release – Wednesday, May 13
Please remember that Wednesday is an Early Release Day. Students will be dismissed at 11:15 AM.
Be sure to update your child’s dismissal plan in Pick Up Patrol so they are clear on where they are going after school.
Please note that there are no bus passes for Bus # 4 or # 9 due to capacity.
Grade 6 – Asia Culture Fair
Also on Wednesday, Grade 6 students will be participating in the Asia Culture Fair. Families of 6th graders have already received a schedule. If you are planning to attend:
The schedule is below.
Please bring your ID for check-in.
Dismissal procedures were sent via the Power Hub and can be found below, but we do discourage students being dismissed early as it is important for them to participate in the full learning experience.
We are looking forward to a productive and exciting week ahead. Thank you for your continued support in helping our students shine! Happy Mother's Day to all our our moms!

The Ouch Experience
Today, our students had the opportunity to attend a motivational assembly featuring speaker and performer, Bret Ouch. During his presentation, Bret engaged students with an exciting combination of inspiring messages and impressive yo-yo tricks.
Throughout the assembly, Bret shared important words of wisdom about perseverance, making positive choices, showing kindness, and believing in yourself even when facing challenges. He encouraged students to work hard, stay respectful, and understand that mistakes can be opportunities to learn and grow.
The students were highly engaged and enjoyed the interactive nature of the presentation. We appreciate the positive energy and meaningful messages Bret brought to our school community today.

2-liter bottles needed for STEAM class
If you have empty 2-liter bottles, please send them into school for STEAM classes to make water rockets. Mr. Burdette’s classes are in need of 100+ empty bottles (caps optional). Please drop them in the STEAM room or library. We also need empty, flattened, thin cardboard boxes (like cereal or granola boxes). Thank you!

Your Spring Cleaning Can Earn Money for WCS
Dear Parents/Guardians & WCS Students,
As the warmer weather arrives, we’d like to remind all students and families about the Windham School District dress code. All tops, midsections, and bottoms must be appropriately covered at all times.
If a student is not dressed according to the dress code, they will be asked to call home. If a parent or guardian is unable to bring appropriate clothing to school, the student will be asked to select an item from the clothing bin available in the nurse’s office.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in helping us maintain a respectful and appropriate learning environment.

Registration for the Windham School District Summer Camps
Registration for the Windham School District summer camps is now open! Visit the website today for more information. These camp programs will be available for all students for five weeks this summer. Students can try something new, plan with a friend, make new friends, and enjoy their summer adventures at any of our camps. If you have any questions, please contact Karen Tenhagen at WSD_SummerCamps@windhamsd.org.
Center School Field Day
The Center School Field Day is Monday June 8th (with a rain date of June 9th).
We are in need of parent volunteers for the Center School Field Day Monday June 8th (rain date Tuesday June 9th) to have a successful day. We have had great responses in the past, and hope this year will be the same.
Volunteers (with a staff member and possibly another parent) will lead a 30 minute station.
Assistance may also be provided from another teacher or staff member (who will rotate to that activity with their class). Directions/rules will be provided. Some stations are outside, some are inside, and activities range from "Name that Tune" to "Scooter Board Hockey" to Capture the Football”, so please bring sneakers and be ready for some fun!
If you are available to help for the entire school day from 7:45am-2:00pm please use the link below to register to volunteer.
Both the Vector Training (annually from the prior completion date) & the fingerprinting/background check must be completed/up-to-date to volunteer.
WCS Field Day Parent Volunteer Form
-We will confirm volunteers (as long as there is a cleared background on file with the district and the Vector training is complete), and more details will be emailed to you between a week prior to the event.
If you have not been cleared to volunteer with the district yet, please go to https://www.windhamsd.org/resources/parents/volunteer_information for instructions (the turn around time takes 3-4 weeks for fingerprints and background checks).
Please email with any questions.

PowerSchool Products
To help our parents and guardians feel more comfortable navigating the various PowerSchool products the district uses, the tech department will regularly share support and learning tools in the newsletters. We hope these tech tips, which will include a variety of videos, PDF instructions, deep dives, and quick tips, will help our community become more comfortable using our primary resources: MyPowerHub (The Hub), the PowerSchool Parent Portal, and the PowerSchool Mobile App. Additionally, these resources will be added to our website's Parent Technology Resource Center so you can revisit them at any time.
We are starting with a video overview of MyPowerHub. Click here to launch the video.
This overview highlights the version you access via a web browser. Just as a reminder, our Hub login URL is: https://windhamsd.guardian.powerschool.com/
