Honoring Our Veterans

On Friday, November 7th, Cheyenne students, faculty, and administration invite you to an event honoring all veterans and current military guests to show our appreciation for your service.

Who is Invited?

The invitation is extended to any veteran or current service member who is a family member or friend of any Cheyenne student (6th, 7th, or 8th grade). Each veteran/service member invitee may also bring one additional guest.

Reception and Assembly Details

  • Reception: Join us at 12:00 PM in the Library for a casual reception featuring delicious finger foods and desserts, with music provided by the Cheyenne orchestra. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other veterans.

  • Assembly: Following the reception, all veterans and their guests will be escorted to the Cafeteria at 1:00 PM for a special assembly. The entire 8th-grade student body will be present to say a heartfelt "thank you" to our honored guests.

Special Note for Students:

Students in 6th and 7th grade are welcome to attend the entire event (reception and assembly) with their veteran family member.

RSVP is Required

To ensure we can adequately prepare food and seating, we kindly ask that you RSVP as soon as possible using the Google link below.

Dear Cheyenne Middle School Parents,

We are writing to clarify the importance of timely attendance at school. Advisory and Mania are a critical part of our students' instructional time, and we need your support to ensure all students are present and ready to learn when the bell rings at 7:35 am. Our school building opens at 7:10 am for students’ breakfast and/or reporting to Advisory. When the bell rings at 7:35 am, students are documented as tardy for attendance or absent if missing 15 or more minutes of Advisory.

  • Timely Arrival is Key: Please plan to have your student dropped off and in the building well before 7:35 AM. This ensures they can get to their assigned Advisory/Mania location on time each day. Between 7:10 am and 7:34 am, students can eat breakfast, drop off items for fine arts, and cash in Lasso Loot before attending Advisory or Mania.

  • Late Arrival Protocol on Mustang Mania Days (Wednesday and Thursday): Students who arrive at school after the 7:34 AM bell will not be permitted to go to their scheduled Mania class. They will instead be redirected to the Gym or Cafeteria to complete a reflection assignment focused on the importance of being in their Mania class, punctuality, and identifying barriers to arriving on time. This also includes students who are in the hallways or wandering the building.

Please understand that Advisory and Mania are considered instructional minutes and a formal class.

  • Attendance Counts: Just like any other core subject, a student's attendance in Advisory/Mania is officially recorded and does count against their overall attendance record. Consistent tardiness or absence affects their academic standing.

  • Valuable Learning: Mania is not an elective; it's a vital time slot dedicated to student growth and success. The school uses this time for many important activities, including:

  • Academic Support: Study hall and remediation opportunities, College and Career Interests, Projects and Planning.

  • Middle Schooler Skills: Growth Mindset and social interaction skills, and communication development

  • Community Building: Important school-wide activities and community-building initiatives.

Attendance matters every single day, and Advisory/Mania is no exception. Students who arrive late miss out on crucial school practices, instruction, preparation, and community connection that set the tone for the rest of the school day.

We ask that you help your student establish a consistent, punctual morning routine to ensure they can make the most of this valuable learning period.

Thank you for your partnership in making Cheyenne Middle School a success.

Sincerely,

The Cheyenne Middle School Administration

Cheyenne Food Pantry Cheyenne Food Pantry

Hi Mustang Families,

With the start of the new school year, the Cheyenne Food Pantry could use your assistance with stocking the pantry shelves. The Pantry supports over 50 students and their families each week by providing supplemental food assistance on the weekends. The Pantry partners with the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank and Project 66 monthly, but depends heavily on the generosity and donations from the school community as well.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Student IDs

Students are required to wear their student ID every day.

The ID badges contain an RFID card that will be scanned when riding the school bus each day. The ID badge also allows students to check out library books, check in to school, and to purchase breakfast and lunch items, as well as be used for our new pass system during the school day. Having and wearing your student ID allows us to provide a safe environment by identifying Cheyenne Students and Staff as belonging to our school!

Students are expected to call home when they don't have an ID. If they lose their ID it cost $5 to replace it.

Cafeteria Accounts

Dear Families,

Please watch your emails for updates regarding your child's cafeteria balance. Students with negative account balances are allowed to charge up to $25. When negative account balances are not paid, students will be provided an alternative meal. We encourage you to view the account online at https://www.schoolcafe.com/edmond . Here, you can create an account or log into an existing account to see details regarding your child's balance and purchases, as well as complete a free and reduced lunch form. Remember, all items purchased at the snack bar are considered à la carte items.

Please get in touch with our school cafeteria manager if you have questions. judy.thompson@edmondschools.net
