MT's purpose is to educate and empower students to become responsible citizens.
A Few Words From the Principal
- Get at least 7 hours of sleep each night
- Eat a good breakfast and bring snacks for during the day
- Reduce anxiety by encouraging them to take their time and do their best
- Make sure their MacBook is charged and functioning properly
We are excited to see what our students have learned this year and to identify areas that we need to continue to support their growth.

Block Scheduling for State Assessments Information
Our modified block schedule started yesterday. This allows additional time for students to complete their State Assessments during class.
Block scheduling concludes on Thursday, April 16. The Blue Day schedule consists of Hours 1, 2, 3, and 4. The Red Day schedule consists of hours 5,6,7, and 8. W.I.N. will take place in the middle of the day before or after lunch depending on grade. During W.I.N., students will have time for independent reading as well as participate in structured activities to give them a break from testing.
Our students enjoyed the change in schedule last year and did very well on their assessments. We look forward to celebrating their success this year.

Good Things at MTMS
Life and Leadership class is taking part in their quarterly community service project.
The students chose to support Wayside Waifs Animal Shelter by creating T-shirt Rope Toys and designing their OWN toy.
We will be welcoming a guest speaker from Wayside on April 21st to share about their non-profit organization and accept our donations.

Book Fair Help
Our Book Fair is coming up (4/6-4/10), and this year we’re opening the doors for parents to jump in and be part of it during the school day!
If you’ve ever thought, “I wish I could be more involved, but I don’t know where to start,” this is an easy (and fun) way to do it. You can sign up with a friend, or come on your own and get to know other parents while you help out. Sign up HERE and come to the office to check-in that day. If you have a little time to give, we’d love to have you. It really does make a difference!
Get ready to glow! Join us for a night of fun at our Neon School social. Be sure to wear your boldest, brightest colors and come ready to shine!

Illness
To help control the spread of illness in our school please follow these illness guidelines:
Fever-Keep student home until fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication
Vomiting, Diarrhea, GI upset-keep home until symptom free for 24 hours without the use of medication.
Respiratory Virus Illness (Covid, Influenza, RSV): Stay home until both are true, fever free for 24 hours without medication and symptoms are getting better.
When reporting your student absent due to illness please give a brief description of the illness such as sore throat, fever, vomiting, flu, strep throat. This will help with illness tracking and reporting to the health department. If reporting Influenza (Flu) please indicate the type of Flu such as Influenza A or Influenza B or tested with home test.
Attendance Reminder
Please remember to report absences and late arrivals to the school by 8:30 a.m. You may call the school attendance line at 913-422-5854 or use the online absence reporting form. The school will call to follow-up with unreported absences after 8:30. Students arriving tardy after 7:55 must enter through the front office doors (you are not required to escort late students inside, but if your student is late due to an appointment, please report it to the office in advance so their attendance is appropriately marked).
