Principal's Message Principal's Message

Dear Mustang Families,

What a wonderful time of year to pause and reflect on all that we’re thankful for at Maple. Every day, I see small moments of generosity, students sharing materials, helping a friend, or offering a kind word, and it reminds me how much goodness grows when we care for one another.

Next week, we will take a moment to honor and thank those who have served our country. There will be no school on Tuesday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day. We are deeply grateful for the service and sacrifices of our veterans, and we also celebrate the sense of community they inspire: the same spirit of support and care that strengthens our school family.

In that spirit of giving, Maple is hosting a food drive for local families over the next week. We’re collecting shelf-stable items, such as canned goods, pasta, rice, and cereal, in the donation bins located in front of the school. We are also accepting grocery store gift cards to help families purchase fresh or perishable items. Every contribution, big or small, makes a meaningful difference for a neighbor in need.

Thank you for the many ways you show care and gratitude, both here at Maple and throughout our community. Together, we continue to show our Mustangs what it means to give generously and to appreciate the people who make our lives better every day.

With Mustang Pride,
Meghann O’Weger
Principal, Maple Elementary

Special Education District Advisory Committee (SEDAC) Updates

Special Education District Advisory Council (SEDAC)

What is SEDAC?

A district advisory council made up of parent/caregiver representatives, who currently represent over 2000 students with IEPs or 504s, and their families from CVUSD school sites and programs, preschool to post secondary.

Our Purpose:

We advise and support the CVUSD in ensuring high quality special education and related services for all students who have IEPs or 504s. In collaboration with district administration we work to improve the educational experience and outcomes for students by providing recommendations on polices, procedures and resources related to special education services.

Committee sign-ups - our committees is where much of our district recommendations come from. They meet outside of our meeting time, some meet virtually. I’ll be sending you a Google link if you’re interested in joining one . Just a few to mention, safety committee, communication and many more. You do not have to be a rep to sign up for these.

Unity Day and Inclusive Schools week events - school are planning, our Disability Inclusion Toolkit is a great resource

Highlighting Instances of Inclusion - Sedac would love to highlight those staff members at our schools who are taking steps towards meaningful inclusion. Not only does this help give us all ideas of what can be done, but it also acknowledges our hard-working staff and we know just how much that can mean to be seen and valued.

Happy to discuss further if you have any questions.

Food Deliveries Food Deliveries

We have seen an increase in food deliveries for students. To be clear, our office staff CANNOT manage daily food drop offs for students. We cannot guarantee that the student will be able to receive food drop offs in the front office. We do NOT accept Door Dash or delivery service food for students under any circumstances. The delivery driver will be turned away. Please limit food drop offs to emergency situations only as it is a burden on our hard working front office staff. Our district is proud to offer free lunch for every student on campus every day. Please save special food from restaurants for our family picnic lunch days and encourage your student to remember to bring their lunch or order from the cafeteria.
