Greetings, Fairmont Families!

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! We are off to great start at Fairmont! Thank you for your help and support as our students and staff are settling into what promises to be another fantastic year!

Next week we will have our Title I informational meeting on Tuesday, August 18, at 5:30 p.m. in the Little Theater. Come out and learn all about Title I and how Fairmont uses these important funds, A second session on Wednesday, August 19, will be offered at 9:30 a.m. if you are unable to attend on the 18th.

Our first PTA meeting of the year will be on Tuesday, August 18, at 6:00 pm in the Little Theater. After the PTA meeting, we will have classroom and grade level parent meetings. There will be 2 sessions offered in case you have children in multiple grades. The first session will be 6:15-6:35 pm and the second session will be 6:40-7:00 p.m. If your child is in K, 1st, or 2nd, you will be meeting in your child's classroom. If you child is in 3rd grade, you will be meeting in the art room. If your child is in 4th grade, you will be meeting in the library. If your child is in 5th grade, you will be meeting in the Little Theater. Both sessions will be identical. Come out and learn more about your child's classroom this year!

Please consider joining our PTA this school year. Information can be found below. We appreciate ALL PTA does for our school throughout the year!

Mark your calendars for Fall Festival because it is fast approaching! It will be on Friday, September 11, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Our theme this year is Harry Potter! Students may dress up with an outfit related to Harry Potter on Friday to go with our Fall Festival theme! This is the only fundraiser we have each school year and all the fun is organized by our wonderful PTA! Please come and support our school!

In closing, I want to remind you of the importance of making sure your child is at school and on time every day. Students who are car riders can begin arriving at 7:45 am. If your child arrives after the 8:15 am bell, he/she will be tardy. When students are tardy or not at school, they miss valuable instruction from their wonderful teachers. They also miss out on the fun things we have going on at school. So, please make an effort to make sure your child is on time and at school. Thank you!

We, at Fairmont, appreciate all you do to support our wonderful school! We must work together for the success of all!

Walkers

If you would like for your child to walk home from school we must have a permission form on file. You can ask your child's teacher or contact the office (423) 434-5275 to get a permission form. You will need to determine if your child will exit the school from the front door at the office or the back door at the cafeteria. Each location will have a designated staff member responsible for keeping track of the students leaving the building as walkers. We want to make sure each child makes it to you safely.

Bus Riders

Every family will receive a Johnson City Transit Disciplinary Code. Please read over this form and make sure students understand the behavior expectations while riding the bus.

If you would like to utilize bus transportation, please complete a bus request form. You can get a form in the office or request a copy from your child's teacher. These are required for each student before riding the bus. Once we receive approval from transit you will get a phone call to notify you of approval.

Students in kindergarten through second grade must have an adult at the bus stop for students to be allowed off the bus. If there is not someone at the stop for these students, transit will return the child to the school and they will have to be picked up in the office. If students are brought back to the school by transit more than twice, they will not be allowed to ride the bus for a period of time. This is the policy from JC Transit.

The safety of all our students in our #1 priority. Thank you for your cooperation!

August - Meet the Counselors

Dear Fairmont Families,

I hope this message finds you well! It’s a pleasure to connect with you — thank you for being partners in your child’s learning and well-being. We are grateful for your ongoing support in making Fairmont a caring, successful community. I’m Mrs. Gibson. I live with my husband, Christian, and our two daughters Sayla and Livvy! A few things about me: I love going to the gym, taking walks, snacking, and watching TV. This is my fourth year serving as the school counselor at Fairmont. I enjoy teaching valuable skills to students and watching them succeed every day! I will be teaching guidance lessons for thirty minutes to each class once a week. I split my time with STEM, which allows me to support students both socially/emotionally and in hands-on learning. We are already seeing enthusiasm from students during guidance and STEM time! Ask your child about this week’s guidance lesson — short conversations reinforce skills. If your family needs support or resources, please reach out. We can connect you with school or community services as needed.

Warmly,

Mrs. Gibson

School Counselor, Fairmont

Hello, families! My name is Mrs. Revis, and I am excited to serve as your school's Care Counselor. My role is to support students who may need a little extra care, encouragement, or guidance during the school day. If you have any concerns about your child or feel they would benefit from meeting with me, please contact me - I would be happy to connect with you and support your student. I live in Gray with my husband and our six-year-old twin boys, Jack and Levi. In my free time, I enjoy caring for my chickens, sewing, and fishing with my boys. I look forward to getting to know you and your children!

Food City is making $800,000 available to participating schools to invest in classrooms, equipment, and essential supplies. You must register your school to your ValuCard each year to continue earning points.

Since its inception, School Bucks has provided nearly $22 million to regional school - all with the help of community members like you.

Friday, September 4

Fairmont's first First Friday Ice Cream for the 2026-2027 school year will be Friday, September 4. You can send money in to purchase ice cream for your student or you can put money on their MySchoolBucks account. If there is money in the account please remind your child to let the cafeteria staff know that they will be using MySchoolBucks to pay for the ice cream. The link to sign up for MySchoolBucks is below the lunch menu. The other way to purchase ice cream is to send money directly to the cafeteria to be added to your child's lunch account. Please enclose this money in an envelope with your child's name, teacher, and cafeteria money on the outside. Ice cream costs .75 and it is very helpful to the cafeteria staff to have money already on the account or to pre pay the .75 the week of Ice Cream Friday.
