A Message from the Principal
Dear Academy Families and Friends,
June is here tomorrow and with that said, there's just so much to be excited about. Here's some quick things to know:
- Kindergarten Screening this past week went well. It was great seeing our incoming Kindergartners both in the building and at the K Event at WECC last Wednesday night. We'll have another info session this Tuesday, June 2 to help them become more acclimated to their future school.
- The Big Race was last Wednesday-great job to all the students who participated in this spring's session.
- Thank you to all the kids and parents that came out for the Tile Night Event! I can't wait to see them up on the cafeteria wall!
- This Thursday, we will have our annual Walk of Honor for the WHS Seniors (former Academy students) who will be graduating on Saturday.
- 5th Grade residency check was due this past Friday, May 29th.
- 1st Grade is going to the zoo on Friday. Please have them dressed and ready for a day outside.
- Last call for Parent Placement input, see the link below in case you missed it.
Goodbye May, hello June!
Mr. Patrick J. Higgins

Playground Etiquette
Playground Expectations
As the weather continues to improve, we are so excited to see our Academy families using the playground after school. Consistency is so important for our students that we find it important to share with you our playground expectations that we provide to the students during the school day. We hope this carries over to after school and beyond:
Everyone plays – Every game is open to whoever wants to play as long as those playing are being safe, respectful and responsible during the game. Including others are expected behaviors.
Play safe – Students must play so that they and others are not physically or emotionally hurt. Students must avoid rough play, unsafe play, and name-calling. Examples of unsafe play include jumping from the top of the play structure or sliding into someone still on or near the end of the slide.
Be Respectful- Students will listen and follow directions. They will be kind and provide other students an opportunity to use the play structure. Keep hands and feet to themselves. Please stay away and out of the woods and please remember to keep sticks and stones on the ground and away from the play areas. Ball play should be reserved to the baseball field and away from the play structures.
