The Importance of Attendance: Every Day Matters!
At Rossiter Elementary School, we believe that every school day is an opportunity for students to learn, grow, and build strong connections with their classmates and teachers. While we understand that illnesses and family emergencies occur, consistent attendance is one of the most important factors in a child's academic and social success.
Research consistently shows that students who attend school regularly are more likely to achieve academic success and develop positive habits that support lifelong learning. Even a few missed days each month can add up over time and impact student progress.
Families can support strong attendance by:
- Establishing consistent bedtime and morning routines.
- Scheduling appointments outside of school hours when possible.
- Planning vacations during scheduled school breaks.
Every day counts, every student matters, and every minute of learning makes a difference!
Hearing & Vision Screenings
Hello from the Health Office,
Routine screenings for hearing and vision will begin at Rossiter Elementary in October. The screenings occur for all new students. Vision screening is for all students in Kindergarten, First Grade, Third Grade, and Fifth Grade. Hearing screenings occur for Kindergarten and First Grade.
If you have any questions or would like to opt out of these screenings, please contact me at Christie Cox 406-324-1407 or email: ccox@helenaschools.org.
I look forward to our school year together!
Sincerely,
Christie Cox BSN RN
Jim Darcy and Rossiter School Nurse

IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM FOOD SERVICE (SODEXO)
Adults who wish to eat a school meal will need to pay by cash or check at the front office. This is an important change from past school years. Adults will no longer be able to charge their meals to a student's account.
Please keep this in mind for future events such as our "Walk to School Day" on October 7th. If adults chose to eat breakfast with their child, they will need to pay $3.50 in the front office that morning.
We appreciate your understanding of this process change.
Rossiter Parent Council - 2026-2027 School Year
The Rossiter Read-A-Thon ends next Wednesday!
Please encourage your students to read this weekend and log their minutes in their accounts. We are trying to reach 125,000 minutes as a school and we are over halfway there but need a strong push to reach our goal! Read-A-Thon is also a fundraiser for our school, so please reach out to family, friends, and businesses to ask for their financial support.
We will meet by the West Valley Fire Station on Forestvale Road at 7:35 and all walk over together, departing at 7:45!
Please park along the street and do not block the fire station driveway
Also note the trail narrows in some places so you may want to consider a carrier if you are bringing a baby or small child who would need to ride in a stroller.
- We will meet in the library at Rossiter. All parents and guardians are welcome to join.
Grades 3-5 Movie Night featuring Hotel Transylvania - Friday, October 9 at 6:30:
- This is a free event for families of grades 3-5! Parent Council will provide free popcorn and water. Siblings are also welcome to join, as we watch the movie in the Rossiter Gym. Bring your own camp chair or blanket to sit on. Doors open at 6:15, the door is located on the east side of the in the Rossiter Gym. Please note a parent or guardian must accompany their child to movie night, we cannot provide childcare for you.
Please reach out to the Rossiter Parent Council if you have any questions: rossiterpta@gmail.com
