Shine Girl Summer Camp
Do you remember the first time your daughter looked in the mirror and didn’t like what she saw? As parents, we want to wrap them up and protect them from every insecurity, but we can’t always silence the voices in their heads. We can, however, choose the environments that help reshape those voices.
Last year, a fellow mom told me, “She came home different.” Her daughter left for Shine Girl Summer Camp feeling nervous and unsure, and returned with a glow that could only come from being seen and celebrated. This camp isn’t just a patchwork of crafts and games. It’s a purposeful blend of guided conversation, creative expression and mentoring that teaches our girls how to talk kindly to themselves and build meaningful friendships.
If you’ve ever felt helpless hearing your daughter tear herself down, Shine Girl is your chance to give her tools that last beyond the summer.
Details:
June 15–18, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Cimarron Middle School.
For incoming 4th–8th grade girls.
$250 covers a camp t‑shirt, lunch, snacks and all materials. Plus, we are offering a 10% discount for all DCSD employees.
Registration closes June 10th, so don’t wait.
The best part? You’ll see the difference, too. She’ll come home different, more confident, more connected, and more in love with who she is. Head to our website for more information and to reserve her spot. Let’s help our girls see themselves the way we see them, strong, beautiful and ready to shine. www.goshinegirl.org

Douglas County Library
THE CHILDREN’S LIBRARY CARD For Kids Under Age 15 Did you know that Douglas County Libraries offers parents and guardians the option of limiting their children’s borrowing to items only in our children’s collection? Our Children’s Library Card limits a child’s borrowing of physical materials and digital content in OverDrive, but does not limit their use of or access to library computers, WiFi, homework help, or research databases. You may change a library account to add or remove the Children’s Library Card option in person, at any time, by visiting the Welcome Desk at any of our libraries. Please have the child’s library card number on hand in order to make the change.
