Walk to School Day
Each year, Sharon Elementary partners with Safe Routes to School, and we are so excited for our first Walk to School Day of the 2026-2027 school year on Thursday, August 27th. Safe Routes encourages students and families to be active in getting to school. Families can “walk to school” from their neighborhood, using the sidewalks on James Burgess and Old Atlanta. Please do not park in the Goddard Parking lot to walk. We typically have over 400 people participate so we can’t wait to see all our students walking to school!
Fall Picture Day
Fall picture is on the 26th. Please see the attached flyer.

Previous Information
Cafeteria Ice cream
Your kiddos can cool off with a delicious ice cream, available in the cafe beginning on August 26!!
They can purchase ice-cream on Wednesdays and Fridays straight from their lunch account, and you can always add funds through the website called MySchoolBucks. They can choose from a variety of flavors and enjoy a sweet treat after lunch! We look forward to serving you soon!
Birthday Book Stars
Sharon Elementary’s Birthday Book Star program is what funds our ability to offer our students at least one author visit each year. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to celebrate your child’s birthday while contributing to our school library! If you'd like to participate, go to SchoolPay.com to register your child. During your child's birth month, they choose a brand-new library book and help decide where to place a dedication label inside the book. They also have their picture taken, with their chosen book, and their birthday star hangs on our hallway bulletin board, outside the library, all month. At the end of the month, the star is sent home with your child.
Payment
- Sign-up for SchoolPay for clubs, fieldtrips, etc.
- Sign-up for School Bucks for breakfast and lunch payments
Specials
This year, we are making an adjustment to our Specials rotation due to the reduced number of classes in Kindergarten, first, and third grade. To ensure that specials teachers do not have large chunks of time in their day without students and that students continue to receive a balanced and consistent Specials experience, we will be using a five-color rotation system for these grade levels.
This new five-color rotation will be used in Kindergarten, first, and third grades and differs from the six-day letter rotation (S.H.A.R.O.N.) used in the past. Second, fourth, and fifth grades will continue to follow the six-day S.H.A.R.O.N. rotation.
Under the new five-color rotation:
- Kindergarten: PE, Art, Music, and STEAM
- First Grade: PE, Art, Music, and STEAM
- Third Grade: PE, Art, Music, with Drama and STEAM alternating
For second, fourth, and fifth grades, the six-day S.H.A.R.O.N. rotation will continue to include:
- PE
- Art
- Music
- Drama
- STEAM
While the rotation system will look a little different across grade levels, our goal is the same: to provide every student with meaningful opportunities to explore and have meaningful experiences throughout the school year. We appreciate your flexibility as we adjust our schedule to best meet the needs of our students and make the most of our available resources.
Visitors
- All visitors must check-in through the front desk and have a license or passport to be able to access the building.
- For safety purposes and time needed to build our routines, we will start welcoming visitors and lunch guests the week of September 2nd with the exception of parents coming to celebrate a birthday.

Fifth Grade Bundle
Fifth grade is a major milestone, and we want to make sure our Sharon Elementary students finish strong with memories that last a lifetime.
The Sharon Elementary PTO will be organizing several fun, meaningful events to celebrate our 5th graders all year long. But with limited district funding that doesn’t cover these extras, we rely on support from our families to make it all happen.
To streamline planning and ensure every student can take part, we’re asking each fifth grader to contribute a $60 activity fee for the year. It covers:
- A custom 5th Grade T-Shirt
- 5th Grade Breakfast
- Winter Luncheon
- Graduation Lunch
- Knight Nation Send-Off (End-of-the-Year Celebration)
- Graduation Facility Use
