Superintendent's Letter #2

Dear Students, Staff, Families, and Community Members,

As mentioned in my previous letter, I am providing information regarding the Equity Audit and surveys.

Equity Audit and Surveys

In October, Mr. Deo Mwano, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion consultant, was hired by the District to focus on diversity, inclusion, equity, and justice.

Over the last several months, Mr. Mwano and his team met with parents, students, Board members, administrators, and staff members to learn about our community and develop the questions that are included in the surveys.

Thank you to those who took the time to have a conversation and provide input to Mr. Mwano and his team.

This past Wednesday, Mr. Mwano met with the School Board to review the surveys and to answer questions.

There are five different surveys:

• 4th-6th grade survey
• 7th-8th grade survey
• 9-12th grade survey
• Staff member survey
• Family/Parents survey

We are providing the links to the student surveys so you have an opportunity to review the questions in advance.

The student surveys will be administered during the school day starting January 24th through February 4, 2022.

The staff member and family/parent survey links will be sent via a Superintendent's letter and will be administered during that same time.

For the elementary schools, the student surveys will be completed during regularly scheduled weekly time with the school counselor. At the middle and high school, the student surveys will be completed during Advisory.

After reviewing the questions, if you do not want your child to complete the survey please contact the following people via email with the subject-- Equity Survey Opt-Out.

We will need to know your decision by Friday, January 21st.

In the email please provide your child's name and grade. If you have children in different schools, you will need to contact the person listed below at each school.

If you have questions about the survey, please contact Mr. Mwano directly at deo@deomwano.com and use the Subject- Lebanon School District Equity Audit.

During February and March, Mr. Mwano and his team will review the survey responses and create a summary report. He will present the report to the School Board and work with administrators to develop goals for the next Three Year Strategic Plan (2022-2025).
