A Feast of Gratitude π
Cambridge Career Fair πΌ
On Thursday, November 20, the Cambridge counseling team organized the Falk School's first ever career fair for junior high, high school and MAV students. More than 25 vendors showed up to offer insight into their personal careers/experiences, give advice on different career pathways after graduation and have meaningful conversations. Students were given a "passport" to carry with them throughout the fair and needed to get at least ten stamps from ten different vendors to be entered into a raffle.
"The Falk School's first-ever career fair was a huge success," said Ms. Mosher, Cambridge Counselor. "This event provided our students with a great opportunity to look beyond the classroom. After weeks of preparation in counseling, our students were so excited to meet with community presenters, chat about real-world career paths and begin connecting their high school journey to the exciting possibilities waiting after graduation."
Roosevelt Students Participate in School-wide Turkey Trot π¦
In lieu of the holiday season and upcoming annual race, Roosevelt students and staff participated in a Turkey Trot around the perimeter of the school! Everyone was invited to wear festive apparel and some classrooms even created posters and other crafts for the occasion. Students wore their own customized bibs with tiny squares for staff members to hole punch or sign. Several staff members were stationed on each corner of the sidewalk to cheer on the trotters and sign their bibs. When students finished their race, they were awarded with juice boxes and sweet treats!
Rossler Starts GLOW Club π
Ms. Trueheart and Ms. Simpson started a girls group called GLOW (Girls Learning Our Worth) for all grade levels at our Rossler campus. The club meets once a month in the cafeteria for a couple periods of fun, meaningful activities and conversations.
"Our mission is to help girls understand their self-worth, build real confidence and learn the tools to maintain healthy relationships in every area of their lives," explained Ms. Simpson. "Weβre building a sisterhood where girls uplift each other instead of competing, and where everyone feels safe to grow, learn and shine in their own way. GLOW is our reminder that every girl deserves respect, love and the chance to become the strongest version of herselfβall while knowing she never has to shine alone."
The themes for the most recent meeting in November were communication and confidence. Each girl took turns being blindfolded while the other girls guided them through an obstacle course. If an obstacle was hit, the team had to go back and start over. It was a fun way to show how important clear communication is, but also how vital it is to be confident in the guidance we give and the choices we make. Just like in life, we want our students to trust their voice and navigate obstacles with confidence.
Mullen Students and Staff Members Honor Local Veteran π¬
Stanley G. Falk School elementary students and staff members celebrated Veterans Day with a community parade to honor local veterans and one very special neighbor on Monday, November 10.
Ron Crane is a 92-year-old Korean War veteran who has become a beloved part of the school community. Every morning and afternoon, Ron greets staff members from his window β always smiling and waving as they arrive and leave the parking lot. His kindness has become a daily highlight for many, therefore the school wanted to do something meaningful for him.
During the parade, students visited Ron and presented him with handmade cards and crafts to thank him for his service and friendship. He reciprocated with lots of hugs and reiterated how seeing the students with all their gifts made his day.
This heartfelt moment gave students an opportunity to commemorate Veterans Day while recognizing a community member who has brought so much joy to their school. It was a touching display of gratitude, connection and the spirit of service that Veterans Day represents.
