SST16 PBIS Newsletter
If a student doesn't know how to behave: WE TEACH IT!

SST16 PBIS Consultant: Missy Baker
I am here to support 24 Southeastern Ohio School Districts. PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support) is an implementation framework for maximizing the selection and use of evidence-based prevention and intervention practices along a multi-tiered continuum that support the academic, social and emotional competence of all students.

WOW I love this idea: sponsered by Meigs Intermediate School
A SHOUT OUT to Tiffany RifeOman and Jody Howard, intermediate administrators at Meigs Intermediate School, and their staff for focusing on "Attendance Matters" early in the school year. The students were told there was a BIG surprise coming at school and when the students arrived, the administrators allowed the students to soak them as they entered the building. The attendance percentage went from 89% to 94.9% within days. They will continue to support "attendance matters" throughout the school year by organizing a surprise day.
I also want to acknowledge the building for starting the school year with "30 positive contacts with families in 30 days". They had a great PBIS kickoff by using the behavior matrix and posters to teach the students the expected behaviors by area. The TEACHING, RETEACHING, AND MODELING will continue. The PBIS team has a lot of positive activities, acknowledgments, and incentive days planned for the entire year!
Way to go team. Keep up the "POSITIVE" work!

New SAS Self Assessment Survey for Staff 4.0
The purpose of the Self-Assessment Survey (SAS) is to examine the status and improvement needs of Tier 1 (schoolwide and classroom), Tier 2, and Tier 3 behavior supports. The SAS is intended to be used by school staff for initial and annual assessment of positive behavior support systems. • Tier 1 Schoolwide Systems: Involving all students, all staff, and all settings including non- classroom locations where supervision is emphasized (e.g., hallways, playground, cafeteria & bus). • Tier 1 Classroom Systems: Instructional settings in which staff supervise and teach groups of students. • Tier 2 Systems: Targeted intervention provided to students whose behavior needs require support beyond Tier 1 to be successful. • Tier 3 Systems: Intensive, individualized intervention provided to students whose behavior needs require individualized supports. The SAS may be completed using paper and pencil, or by accessing the forms on www.pbisapps.org/ pbisassessment
