Brayden Ruff
Did you know Sand Creek has over 13 students participating in a work study/apprentice program? The Aggie Academic Center recognizes that there are many paths to learning and this is just one of many! Last year, the Counseling Center arranged for all juniors and seniors to attend the county-wide job fair. It was there that Brayden met a representative from Rare Tool in Tecumseh. Brayden was in his first year of the Tech Center program, Machining and Manufacturing. After meeting Brayden, the representative was so impressed he offered a paid position to Brayden. Brayden attends this internship the second half of his school day and is paid for his time at the site. He also earns elective credit. We are proud of Brayden for representing Sand Creek in such a positive way! The Counseling Center would also like to thank the LISD TECH Center for all of their hard work helping us to support and secure these placements for our students at Sand Creek.

Counseling Team Visits Classrooms in Grades 6-12
Ms. Myers and Mrs. Shindorf pushed into classrooms for all students grades 6-12 the past two weeks to introduce themselves and their services. Below is the slideshow that was shared with students. Please feel free to reach out to the Counseling Team at any time!
Presentation on the Dangers of the Internet and Social Media Platforms
On Wednesday September 3rd, MSP Trooper Stewart visited Sand Creek Community Schools once again to present the dangers of the internet and social media platforms. We had three sessions for him placing 10th – 12th grades together, then 6th – 7th and ending with 8th – 9th grades. Trooper Stewart adjusted the presentation based on grade level and interacted well with all of our students.
Some of his points of emphasis were; once something is posted – it never goes away, your opinion on this is important because you matter. He also covered what to do if you have been sent an inappropriate pic/video. He provided updated information about the consequences of cyber bullying and sexting.
Our students were active listeners and Trooper Stewart easily open up a two-way communication platform. On this same day, I heard a news story out of Ohio where an inappropriate video was circulating through a number of school districts. Students ages 14 and 16 are involved along with an 18 year old. This just confirms the importance of Trooper Stewarts' message and how this can happen in any school district.

A Note from Mrs. Shindorf on iWellness Center
In our ongoing commitment to be intentional and proactive in supporting our students' well-being, we have established a partnership with iWellness Center. We are excited to be kicking this off Monday, September 8th. iWellness Center is dedicated to fostering student engagement and promoting connection through a structured weekly check-in process for 6th - 12th grade students.
We believe that this partnership will allow us to gain deeper insights into the unique needs and experiences of our students. By actively listening to their feedback and concerns, we can take targeted steps to create a more nurturing and responsive learning environment.
We are excited about the possibilities this collaboration brings and are confident that it will contribute to the continued growth and well-being of our school community.
Students were provided and asked to bring home an informational letter that further explains the intent and purpose behind iWellness Center. If you have any questions or concerns, please direct them to Abby Shindorf by email. abigail.shindorf@sc-aggies.us
