📢 TSIA2 Testing Opportunities for Students Interested in Dual Credit
Students and Families,
If your student is interested in taking advantage of Dual Credit opportunities at NYOS in the near future, now is a great time to begin planning for the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA2). Passing the required sections of the TSIA2 is one of the eligibility requirements for many Austin Community College (ACC) Dual Credit courses.
Registration Information
If your child is interested in taking Dual Credit, please note that the TSIA2 registration form is only available through the student's NYOS Google account. Students must be signed into their NYOS account to access and submit the registration form. Parents are encouraged to review the information with their student, but the registration must be completed using the student's NYOS account.
Additional testing details, including the final testing date, time, and location, will be emailed to registered students approximately one week before each test administration.
If you have any questions about the TSIA2, Dual Credit, or determining if your student is ready to begin earning college credit while in high school, please contact Mrs. Pierce, CCMR Counselor & Dual Credit Liaison.
BOY Testing HS
Principal's Welcome Message:
What a Week! + Important Pickup Reminders for MS Families and HS Families
Dear NYOS Secondary Families,
As we continue building our Blueprint to Excellence this school year, we are preparing to begin our Beginning of Year (BOY) assessment window. These assessments provide us with valuable baseline data that allows us to understand where each student is academically as we begin the year.
At NYOS, assessments are not simply about generating scores—they are an essential part of the teaching and learning cycle. Beginning of Year assessments help our teachers:
Identify each student's current strengths and areas for growth.
Differentiate instruction to meet individual learning needs.
Set meaningful academic goals with students.
Monitor growth throughout the year and adjust instruction when needed.
Ensure every student receives the support or enrichment necessary to achieve success.
Throughout the year, students will participate in additional assessment cycles so we can measure growth over time. These testing cycles allow teachers to celebrate progress, identify learning gaps early, and make informed instructional decisions that maximize student achievement. Our goal is continuous growth for every learner, and these assessments provide the roadmap that helps us get there.
We encourage students to approach these assessments with confidence and to simply do their best. The results help us personalize learning experiences—not define a student's potential.
I also want to extend my sincere gratitude to our incredible NYOS families. Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Stock the Lounge initiative and to those who have generously fulfilled items from our staff wish lists. Your kindness and support have made our teachers feel welcomed, appreciated, and valued as they begin another school year of serving our students. It truly takes a village, and we are grateful to have such an amazing community standing beside us.
Thank you for your continued partnership and for trusting us with your children's education. We are looking forward to an incredible year of learning, growth, and excellence together.
Before the weekend, a few important logistics reminders for our Middle School families, especially those with siblings in Elementary:
🚗 Self Dismissal (SDM) Pickup
- Elementary only allows 8th graders and above to pick up younger siblings at 3:40 PM.
- Any High School sibling (9-12) is also cleared to pick up.
- This year, SDM pickup will take place from the side doors, starting at 3:40 PM.
🚙 Carline Pickup
- MS students may walk through the Elementary building to sit with a sibling at carline.
- Parents should plan to arrive after 3:45 PM, timing their spot in line closer to when MS dismisses.
- When you reach the front, scan the QR code — this will trigger your elementary student to come out to carline.
- SDM procedures have no impact on MS carline pickup.
- Important: Please tell your MS student directly if they're being picked up via Elementary carline, so they know to head that way after dismissal.
- MS studentsbeing picked up in the elementary carline should enter through the side doors of the Elementary building.
HS Families:
🅿️ Senior Parking Lot
- Gates open at 3:50 PM Monday–Thursday and 12:50 PM on Fridays.
- Seniors must park in the Senior Parking Lot using school issued placards.
- Students may not park in the staff parking lots at anytime!
Warmly,
Ms. Edwards

Updates from the District
To better streamline communication and ensure families receive the most accurate and up-to-date information, NYOS will be phasing out the Secondary Facebook account effective July 31, 2026.
Moving forward, all social media updates, announcements, reminders, celebrations, and event information for both campuses will be shared through the NYOS District Facebook and Instagram accounts. While our campus newsletters will remain separate, we are combining our social media presence to reduce duplicate information and provide families with one reliable source for school news.
We encourage all families to follow the NYOS District social media accounts and continue reading campus newsletters to stay informed about important updates, events, and opportunities throughout the school year. Thank you for your support as we work to improve and simplify communication for our community.
Thank you,
