Mrs Walsh's Welcome Mrs Walsh's Welcome

Welcome back to all our children and families for this new school year. If you are new to our school, then an extra special warm welcome to you. It was lovely to see so many parents, carers and other family members visiting the classrooms on Wednesday for our Meet the Teacher event. We hope that this gave you the chance to have a look at your child’s learning environment, to see some of the work they have already done and to ask their teachers any questions at the start of the year.

I have been very impressed with how well the children have settled into work and play already this term, and it has been great to see the class ‘Wow Walls’ filling up with some super work within the first few days of the school year. We have already had two ‘Stars of the Week’ in each class, and a huge number of Dojo points awarded, with Year 1 being our first Class Dojo champions of the year. Well done to them!

A few reminders at the start of the school year A few reminders at the start of the school year

Morning drop-off is a busy time as staff are welcoming children and preparing for the school day. We kindly ask that drop-offs are kept brief and that any longer discussions are avoided at this time. If you would like to discuss a matter in more detail, please arrange an appointment or send an email. We will be very happy to speak with you at length at a mutually convenient time later in the day. All the teachers’ email addresses are available on the school website and have been shared on the Class Dojo page. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Please ensure you park appropriately when dropping off and collecting your child. Parking on the zigzags is unacceptable and unsafe, as is parking in the entrance gate. Walking, cycling and scooting are healthy, safe and fun ways to travel to school. The safest option for those travelling from further afield is to park in the St Marygate car park – the walk from there takes less than 5 minutes. Permits are available from the school office.

We already have a large number of unnamed cardigans, jumpers and sweatshirts in the lost property boxes. Please ensure you name all items of clothing so we are to return them.

Many thanks for your support at the start of this new academic year and I hope to see many of you at the range of events we have taking place throughout the year.

Our Weekly Superstars Our Weekly Superstars

Congratulations to this week's stars, celebrated in worship this morning;

Reception – Agnes. She has been an incredibly kind and caring friend, always looking after others and making sure they are safe, while also doing super work in phonics.

Year 1 – Ronnie. He has done fantastic maths work this week, working hard to sort and count objects and to represent numbers in lots of different ways. He has also shown super confidence and independence when tackling problems.

Year 2 – Axel. He has been trying hard to show active listening, looking at the speaker, taking turns to speak and sharing his thoughts and ideas confidently.

Year 3 – Pippa. She has shared her fantastic ideas and enthusiastic participation in our character description, independently choosing thoughtful and ambitious vocabulary.

Year 4 – Jack. He has shown excellent ideas and imagination when creating underwater similes in English lessons.

Year 5 – Edward. He has had a superb start to Year 5, going above and beyond around the classroom and impressing us with his setting description in English.

Year 6 – George E. He has had a fantastic attitude towards the assessments all week, and ensured his handwriting was always his best.
