Morning Worship and Devotion
Morning Worship and Devotion
A favorite and very important start to the school day at CCS is taking time to praise the Lord by singing a song of worship and by listening to a morning devotion led by Mr. Yearwood and faculty members. Below are a few of the scriptures used in this week's devotions.
- Psalm 133:1
- Luke 24:46-48
- Ephesians 6:10-12
- Proverbs 19:21
- John 15:18-19
A Look Back at Last Week
3-Year Old Preschool Class
The 3-year old Preschool class has been having a blast this year with Mrs. Frame. They are learning about God, letters, numbers, and having some silly playtime too. They are having lots of fun at CCS!
Worship Band
Upper school students are filling leadership roles in many different ways. One way they serve each week is by leading worship during devotion and chapel services. This takes extra effort and practice. We are so proud of their boldness to serve and lead peers.
Flashlight Friday Reading
4th and 5th grade students had a great time on Friday reading in the dark with flashlights. Creating an environment that is fun and interesting is often helpful in getting students more engaged in learning.
University Visitors
Juniors and Seniors had a chance to meet with an admissions advisor from Samford University. Next week these students will be having conversations with multiple colleges at the ALACRAO College Fair. Having the opportunity to speak to a college representative is an important step in exploring post-secondary options.
Making a Joyful Noise
After Mr. Yearwood asked a few students to illustrate "harmony" for a devotion lesson, Mrs. Warden gained a few new male chorus members. They did a great job!
5th Grade Reading
Mrs. Mak's 5th grade students have been reading about some Greek myths including Perseus and Medusa, Hercules, The Trojan War, Icarus and Daedalus, and Pandora's Box.
Slim Chickens Fundraising Night
Thursday night was a packed restaurant and drive through for fundraising at Slim Chickens. Thank you to all who came out to support CCS and to the PTF for organizing this event!
CCS Performing Arts
The drama and chorus students are gearing up for a great year of performances! The first event of the season will be a Dinner Theater Night on November 1st. Watch for more information soon!

Art Class
Art class is a favorite for students at CCS. These 1st grade students had a great lesson this week with Mrs. Griffin.
Leading in the Community
Seniors Aby Robertson and Zoe Powell are serving this year on a Student Advisory Board with 1st National Bank. They will participate in monthly meetings with students in the surrounding area.
Special Guest from Virginia
Mrs. Krogh's 11th grade US History class had a special guest lecture from Virginia. Laurie King, an Archaeological Conservator at the Mariner's Museum in Newport News, VA presented on the USS Monitor. The Monitor is a Union ironclad ship from the Civil War that fought in the Battle of Hampton Roads.
Lower School PE
Students at the lower school are enjoying the cooler daily temperatures by playing outside.
Shapes and Figures
Mrs. Davis' Kindergarten students are learning more about shapes, patterns, and creating figures.
Excitement Ahead
Huge praise report --- We will be welcoming a new Kindergarten teacher, Miss Lawson Whaley, to the CCS family very soon! Thank you to our wonderful helpers and other Kindergarten teachers who have kept these students on track.
Event Information
Parents, family members, and friends are always welcome on Tuesday mornings for a dedicated weekly prayer time. This meeting takes place in the lunch area at the Beech Campus immediately following morning devotion on Tuesdays.
