Our school is a very special place and we are ready to do great things in the 2025-2026 school year. We look forward to your partnerships.
As always, please reach with questions or concerns!

Personal Electronic Device (PED) (Cellphone) DRAFT Policy at Scituate High
New Cell Phone Policy: "Away for the Day" This School Year
As we kick off the new school year, Scituate High School will be implementing a new district-wide cell phone policy aligned with the recently passed Rhode Island legislation banning cell phone use in schools. Starting this year, student cell phones will not be allowed in classrooms during the school day.
This shift reflects our commitment to creating a focused, respectful, and engaging learning environment. Research continues to show that when phones are away for the day, students are more present, less distracted, and better able to connect with their peers and teachers. This new policy supports both academic success and student well-being.
We know that adjusting to this change will take time, and we appreciate your partnership as we work together to prioritize learning, focus, and healthy habits for all students. More details on the policy and implementation procedures will be shared during the first week of school.
Let’s make this year one where we are truly connected—to our learning, to each other, and to what really matters.
Check out our website for more cellphone and PED info!
SHS Supplies
High School Supplies: Scituate High School does not compile an official supply list as we have minimal materials that families need to purchase. Each course will have a syllabus which is given to students during the first few days of school. Families will have a few weeks to get those supplies.
Any family with a financial hardship should contact Mr. Hassell

Mr. Anastasi - Director of School Counseling
With over 25 years of experience in public education, I am excited to join the Scituate school community as the Head of School Counseling. I have worked extensively with both middle and high school students to support academic, career and social development. Prior to my role as a school counselor, I taught both Art and Library Media at the secondary level, and am also a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC). Working with the RI Department of Education as a Counseling Ambassador since 2020, I’ve developed a statewide Student ILP Ambassador program, as well as contributed to SEL curriculum writing. I am looking forward to working with students and families to increase knowledge of college and career-related opportunities, and am dedicated to creating a steady transition to postsecondary outcomes through increased support around FAFSA, college planning, trade and apprenticeship opportunities. My focus this school year is to strengthen and develop broad, proactive interventions to ensure counseling programming meets the evolving needs of all students.
Mr. Nard - Culinary Arts Teacher
We are excited to welcome Mr. Quintin Nard as our new Culinary Arts teacher at Scituate High School! A proud graduate of Johnson & Wales University with over a decade of experience in the culinary industry, Mr. Nard brings a wealth of real-world expertise and a passion for education. He most recently worked as an Admissions Culinary Presenter for JWU, engaging students across the region with hands-on demonstrations and career guidance.
Mr. Nard will be working closely with our team as we begin the process of transforming our Family and Consumer Science program into a potential RIDE-approved Culinary Arts pathway. We are thrilled to have him on board!

2025-2026 Schedule Update LIVE!
Student schedules are now viewable to families in Powerschool!
Students will have the first two weeks of school to make any schedule changes.
As in the past, student schedules will be available to view and print on PowerSchool. Students and families that may have lost their username and password or are new to Scituate High School should contact the school at 647-4120 or email: technology@scituateschoolsri.net. We ask that families and students remain patient with any schedule errors as our counseling staff are working hard to “clean up” any loose ends. https://scituateschoolsri.powerschool.com
Students should log into Powerschool before Monday afternoon/night (Aug 25th) and view their schedule in case there were any changes. Students are encouraged to take a screenshot, download, print their schedule, or use the Powerschool mobile app so they are prepared for the start of school on Tuesday, August 26th at 7:45 AM.
If a student has a schedule but needs to work with a counselor for a potential change, we ask that students report to their period 7 class (first of the day) and complete the form below to meet with their school counselor.
Students and their families are reminded that elective courses should not be changed at this time.
Any core academic subject change (level change ie: honors course to college prep) must have permission from a school counselor and Mr. Hassell and the window to drop any courses will close on Friday, September 12th.

Thank You Scituate Youth Basketball!
Exciting things happened over the summer in the back gym of the high school!
SYB had brand new hoops installed! These hoops are much safer for our players. They can be adjusted to change the hoop height as well as can be raised and lowered to move them out of the way for other events taking place in the gym.
We were able to complete this project because it was funded using the money we raised from hosting our February travel tournaments for the past few years. Your donations of items for our raffle baskets contributed to the funding of this project.
Thank you so much for support! We really appreciate it!
