ELECTRONIC DEVISES
Phase 2 Has Started
Parents and Students, we have started Phase 2 of the HB 1481 No Electronic Devices on Tuesday, September 8th. Below is the link to the guidelines. We have been confiscating any cell phones, head phones and air pods that are out and visible, which means parents will need to pick up the devices.
Parents, please have a talk with your students about the House Bill and the consequences that are in place.
DRESS CODE FOR PFISD
We do dress code our students.
STUDENT ID'S
Parents and Students, starting Monday, August 24th, if a student does NOT have their ID and has to get a temporary ID, the student will receive a detention.
Safety and Security is our number one priority at Weiss High School. To help ensure that students on our campus are Weiss High School students, students must:
Wear their school issued ID on a lanyard around their neck and it must be fully visible while on campus or while at any other PFISD property during normal school hours.
Students will be issued one free ID and one free lanyard at the beginning of the school year or on the first day of enrollment.
Replacement ID’s can be purchased at both B POD and D POD circulation desk for $5. Replacement Lanyards will be $1.
Failure to wear a school issued ID will result in After-School detention. Purchase of an ID on the same day will remove the detention.
Parents will be contacted and asked to bring student IDs to campus if they are left at home.
STUDENT PARKING PASSES
Warnings were given out this week for those cars that did not have a parking permit. Last years permit does NOT count. Students have to purchase a new parking permit each year. Starting next week, we will be giving citations out for those that do not have a parking permit. If a student receives a citation they have until September 25th to purchase a parking permit instead of paying the $25 fee. After the 25th, if they receive a 2nd ticket then they will have to pay the ticket of $25 and purchase a parking permit for $20.
2026-2027
Student Parking Permit Protocol
1. Complete the Student Parking Permit Agreement with all requested information and signatures.
2. Include a photo-copy of the following with your completed agreement:
a. A valid driver’s license
b. Proof of insurance
3. $20.00 permit fee must be included. Make checks payable to Weiss High School. You can also pay by cash or credit card.
4. Turn in all documents at DPOD downstairs at lunch and before school.
5. Warnings will be issued for non-permitted vehicles starting September 2nd.
6. Citations will be issued for non-permitted vehicles and vehicles parked in Faculty Parking starting September 14th
Please read the permit agreement completely before turning in your paperwork. By obtaining a parking permit, you agree to all terms and understand that parking on campus is a privilege that can be revoked.

Hello everyone!
I'm reaching out on behalf of the Pflugerville Chamber of Commerce as we gear up for the 2026 Pflugerville EXPO — our Business Expo & Pfamily Pfestival — happening Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 10 AM to 2 PM.
We're looking for volunteers to help before, during, and after the event, and I immediately thought of your students. If you have any students who need service or volunteer hours (for NHS, scholarship applications, or just to give back), this is an easy, fun way to earn them while seeing local businesses in action.
Volunteers can help with things like:
- Event setup
- Parking assistance
- Helping vendors move items to their booths before the event
- Breakdown after the event
- Helping vendors load out afterward
Shifts run in windows across the day (roughly 8 AM–3 PM), so students can pick a time that fits their schedule.
Would you be willing to share this with your students — through a newsletter blurb, a flyer on your board, or however works best on your end? Here's the sign-up link:
https://forms.gle/tN2ZAkvLxSa287Ti8
I've attached a flyer as well if that's easier to post or forward. Thank you for considering this — we'd love to have your students be part of it!
Warmly,
Melissa Isaac

DOCTOR OR PARENT NOTES
If a student has been absent, please send all notes doctors or parent notes to Wolfpackattendance@pfisd.net.
Parent/Guardian Notes Are Returning for the 2026–2027 School Year
Dear PfISD Families,
Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Pflugerville ISD is reinstating parent-documented absences. This means that, for a defined set of reasons, a parent or guardian note will once again be accepted to excuse your student’s absence, without requiring a doctor’s note for every occurrence.
We know families have been asking for this, and we want you to understand exactly how it works so there are no surprises.
What a Parent Note Can Excuse
- You may submit a note to excuse up to five school days per semester, per student, for:
- Your student’s illness, injury, or health-related condition
- A medical, dental, or behavioral health appointment
- The serious illness, hospitalization, or death of an immediate family member
There is no change to excused absences related to certain religious, military, or legal proceedings, college visits, and driver’s license appointments, and those don’t count against your five days. Please see the Student Handbook for details.
What a Parent Note Cannot Excuse
To keep this policy fair and consistent for every family, a parent note cannot be used for:
- Family vacations or trips
- Personal errands that could be scheduled outside school hours
- Oversleeping, missed rides, or traffic
- Work, babysitting, or non-District activities
How to Submit a Note
Send your note to your campus attendance office within three school days of your student returning to school. Notes can be submitted in writing, emailed (this is the best way for tracking) or submitted through the method your campus provides. Each note should include:
- Your student’s full name and student ID
- The date(s) of the absence
- The specific reason for the absence
- Your name, signature (or electronic submission), and a phone number where the campus can reach you
Good to Know
- A parent note is reviewed, not automatically approved. Your campus will confirm the reason meets District guidelines.
- After five parent-documented days in a semester, a note from a licensed health-care provider will be required for future illness-related absences.
- This is separate from absences the District is already required by law to excuse (such as certain religious, military, or legal proceedings), those don’t count against your five days.
- A maximum of 5 days per semester may be excused using a parent note.
Why This Matters
Regular attendance is one of the strongest predictors of student success, and we want every absence, excused or not, to come with the support your student needs to catch up. Reinstating parent notes gives families more flexibility while keeping our attendance standards clear and consistent.
If you have questions about this policy or a specific absence, please contact your campus attendance office or the Office of Student Affairs.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep every PfISD student in school and on track.
Leaving Campus Early
In the event that your student needs to leave campus, a parent or guardian who is designated on the student's skyward account may come to campus to sign the student out.
Parents/guardians have the option to drop off a note at the front office that indicates what time, that same school day, that the student needs to leave campus. Parents/guardians will need to be prepared to present identification at that time.
An email or phone call to the attendance specialist or front office staff requesting that a student be permitted to leave campus will not suffice.
Please be aware that a note to leave campus cannot be used in lieu of documentation regarding absences.
We appreciate your help adhering to these safety and security measures as we continue to make improvements to our campus processes.
Parents, as a reminder that we do not allow students to be checked out after 3:45pm due to the interruption of class while the teachers are trying to wrap up their lessons.

Vocational Program for students in Special Education
FREE BREAKFAST ALL YEAR LONG
Where breakfast is free for all students, regardless of socioeconomic status, students must qualify to receive free and/or reduced lunch. Below is the information to apply for free or reduced lunch.
Free & Reduced Meals Application https://www.myschoolapps.com/Application
The free meals program provided by the USDA and Texas Department of Agriculture for all PfISD students during the pandemic has ended. Students must complete the necessary form to receive free or reduced meals during the 2025-2026 school year.
Click here for instructions on applying for free and reduced meals (English).
Click here for instructions on applying for free and reduced meals (Spanish).
Click here for instructions on applying for free and reduced meals (Vietnamese).
PfISD encourages families who feel they may qualify for the free/reduced meal program to complete the forms this year as it will give their students coverage for the first 30 days of next school year. Then, they must complete an application at the beginning of next school year to receive benefits all year long.
Please take note: the free meals that have been available to all students, regardless of their application status, are ending. Students who have previously been part of the free/reduced meal plan or newer students who enrolled in PfISD during the 2024-25 school year who may be eligible for the traditional program need to apply to continue receiving free or reduced meals at school next school year.
Starting Tuesday, Sept 2 (Sept 1 is Labor Day), students who are at Reduced status will not be charged the forty cents for their reduced-status lunch meal. This is through a two-year State of Texas offering/grant. Student breakfasts district-wide are already free to students (since 2020). Paid lunches will remain unchanged at their respective price.
PFOOD PFAIRNESS
PROHIBITED ITEMS ON CAMPUS
Weiss Families,
I am writing to share that we experienced several incidents this week in which pepper spray was accidentally discharged in classrooms. Each time, staff quickly cleared and ventilated the area and checked on student well-being.
We were fortunate that no one was hurt. These incidents may have been accidental, but they are still disruptive and potentially dangerous. We need your partnership to ensure this does not continue.
Pepper spray and similar items are prohibited on campus. Please speak with your student about not bringing any prohibited items to school, and consider checking backpacks before they leave home. Students who bring or use prohibited items will face disciplinary action consistent with our Student Code of Conduct.
How families can help
• Review the list of prohibited items with your student and reinforce that personal defense sprays are not allowed at school.
• Remind students to inform an adult immediately if they see any item that does not belong on campus.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe, focused learning environment for all students.
Sincerely,
Ameka Hunt
Principal, Weiss High School

CELL PHONE POLICY
Dear PfISD Families,
I hope this message finds you well. Just a reminder that House Bill 1481 is still in effect.
House Bill 1481 requires that students not use personal devices during school hours. This means that from the first bell to the last, students must keep items like cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, tablets, and gaming devices put away and out of sight. The law applies to any personal wireless device that can send or receive data, unless it's been issued by the school for instructional purposes.
Here’s what this means in everyday terms:
- Personal cell phones, tablets, gaming devices, smartwatches, Bluetooth headphones or earbuds, and even fitness trackers that can send or receive messages must stay stored away during the school day.
- There are exceptions for students with documented medical needs or special education accommodations
This law aims to help students stay focused, reduce distractions, and create a safer and more respectful learning environment for everyone.
Full Implementation
Enforcement will be immediate and progressive consequences without verbal warnings. The consequences will include:
- First offense: Device confiscated and returned only to a parent/guardian
- Second offense: Confiscation plus lunch detention; documented in Skyward
- Third offense: Confiscation plus half-day of in-school suspension (ISS) and a parent meeting
- Fourth offense or chronic issues: Full-day ISS, behavior plan, or temporary ban of the device on campus
Students who refuse to turn in their devices when asked will face disciplinary action in accordance with our Student Code of Conduct.
We know change can be tough, and that’s why we’re working hard to help students and staff get used to this new law. But we also need your help. Please take a few minutes to talk with your student about the importance of following this new law. When parents and schools work together, we can ensure our teachers spend more time teaching and less time managing device distractions.
As always, we appreciate your partnership and support.

CAMPUS TARDY POLICY
SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING
The Anonymous Alerts is an anti-bullying and safety app reporting system that helps combat bullying and other negative activity in schools by empowering students to speak up. Social and peer pressure are some of the hardest obstacles for students to overcome. Students or parents can submit reports such as bullying, cyber bullying, depression, dating violence, drug or alcohol use, threats against the school, weapons on campus, and more.
The system allows for 1-way or 2-way anonymous encrypted communications between the submitters (students, parents, or community members) and District administration and/or school staff. Users of the system have the option to remain anonymous or reveal their identity when submitting a report.
IS NOT ALLOWED
Parents and Students, we do NOT accept Door Dash any more. Parents are allowed to bring food for their student only. Parents please speak to your students that they are not allowed to order door dash and have it delivered to the back of the school or the side door next to the student parking. If door dash is delivered for a student it will be held in the front office until the end of the day.
