Student Responsibility for Chromebook Care-Damage Linked to Social Media Trend

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We want to make you aware of a recent trend circulating on TikTok that is causing concern in schools across the country, including ours. Some students have been influenced to insert small objects or metallic items such as paper clips, into Chromebook charging ports or other device openings, which can result in significant internal damage to the device.

Please speak with your child about the importance of using school-issued technology responsibly. Damaging devices—whether intentional or due to poor decision-making—can result in serious consequences. As a reminder, families will be financially responsible for any damage caused to school-issued Chromebooks.

We appreciate your partnership in helping us keep our students accountable and our technology resources in working condition. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

Ms. Larry
Principal
