Dear Hardy Families,

Last week, we had an amazing Lunar New Year assembly featuring our incredible lion dancers. It was such a joyful celebration of culture, community, and new beginnings. We’re excited to see what the Year of the Fire Horse brings.

It’s here! Literacy Week is underway, and our theme, “Reading Takes You Everywhere,” turns the Hardy Library into a travel-themed reading adventure all week long.

How Book Fair shopping works:

  • 📖 Students shop during their scheduled class visit

  • ⏰ The Fair is also open before and after school

  • 💳 Students can use cash, card, or Scholastic eWallet

🎉 Dress-Up Days

Monday: Pajama Passport Party
Tuesday: Tourist Tuesday
Wednesday: Wear the World Wednesday - Jersey or country flag colors!
Thursday: Book Character Parade
Friday: Red, Read & Ready to Soar

Participation is always optional — join in if it’s fun for your student.

eWallet reminder:
Families can still set up a cash-free Scholastic eWallet for students. You can also:

  • Contribute to a teacher eWallet to help build classroom libraries

  • Donate to Share the Fair, which helps students who may need support purchasing books

👉 Set up or fund an eWallet here:

🙋 Book Fair Volunteers Needed

Several Book Fair volunteer shifts are still open. If you’re able to take even one hour (say, Wednesday lunch), it helps ensure students are supported and keeps the load from falling on just a few people.

Sign up to volunteer here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E084CA8AE2AABF58-62388934-reading#/

Every purchase helps fund books and future programs at Hardy, and every volunteer hour helps make it possible. Thank you for supporting reading in our community!

School is now open on February 26

The one-day strike previously scheduled for Thursday, February 26 will not take place, and all schools will be open. The previously announced make-up date of March 9 will go back to being a non-instructional day with schools closed districtwide. We appreciate the patience and flexibility you have shown throughout this process.

CYBHI INSURANCE EMAIL

This is a reminder that families will begin receiving emails this week from Paradigm Healthcare Services requesting their student’s health insurance information and consent to bill as part of San Diego Unified’s participation in the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI) Fee Schedule. We know families may have questions about this email. Please take a moment to review the helpful flyer below that contains more detailed information about why the district is requesting you complete this form and how it helps ensure the district receives reimbursement for services that support our students.

📅 A new meeting date will be announced soon — stay tuned to our PTA instagram for details.

Your participation truly matters. PTA decisions, including elections, can only move forward when enough members are present.
