A Message From Your Principal

Dear Eames Way Families,

This Friday marks the official end of the first trimester! It’s a great time to reflect on the growth and achievements our students have made so far this school year.

We also want to share our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donations to the Marshfield Food Bank. Your kindness is making a difference in our community, and we are thrilled to continue collecting food items until the Holiday Break. Thank you for your support!

We’re proud to announce that fourteen more students have earned the Principal Award for demonstrating "Responsibility" throughout the month of November. Congratulations to these exceptional students! This month, we’re introducing a new theme: Caring. We encourage everyone to look for ways to show kindness and compassion in their daily actions.

Lastly, get ready for an exciting week ahead! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming next week, and we know students will be thrilled with the way Mrs. Clancy has transformed the library. It’s a fun surprise waiting to be revealed Monday morning, and we can’t wait to see everyone’s reactions!

Thank you for being such an amazing school community. We look forward to continuing this journey together!

Warm regards,

Ms. Bishop

Principal

Spotlight On Writing: Eames Way Student Journalists Spotlight On Writing: Eames Way Student Journalists

In our efforts to increase opportunities for student voice at Eames Way School, we have enlisted the writing talents of our 4th and 5th graders to create original articles for our weekly newsletter publications! This opportunity is on a voluntary basis from students and a great way for them to share their experiences at EWS in a unique way. Thank you to this week's student journalists, Sydney Meyers (grade 4) and Piper Moeller (grade 5), for going above and beyond to create and submit this week's publications!

Hi! My name is Piper Moeller. I interviewed some kids and also some teachers from each grade. Let’s first see what kindergarten has to say. I asked them what they liked about school. I interviewed the Lucchetti twins and Gabby said that she likes coloring and loves to read. On the other hand, Lilliana likes playing games and reading. Then I interviewed Mrs. Wiedemann about why she likes to teach kindergarten. She said that she loves working with kids and even learns things from them.

Next up, I interviewed first grade. I asked them the same question: Why do you like school? I interviewed Charley. The first thing she said was: “EVERYTHING!” Then I asked her to be more specific. She said she likes P.E. and Art and loves to be with her friends and teachers. Then I interviewed Mrs. Tate. I asked her why she likes teaching, just like I asked the other teachers. She said she loves watching kids grow and seeing how they compare from the start of the year to the finish. And she loves to have fun and play games with them.

After first is second grade. In second grade, I interviewed Alexa asking the same exact question. She said she loves Art, P.E., and doing math equations. Then I interviewed Owen (a.k. a. my little brother). He loves learning and to see his teacher and play with friends. I then interviewed both second grade teachers, Mrs. Beauregard and Mrs. Sullivan. Mrs. Beauregard said she loves the energy and it makes her feel very young and she loves making kids happy. Then I interviewed Mrs. Sullivan. She said she’s loved being able to love a new class each year.

In third grade, I interviewed Nora and Easton. Nora said she loves school because it helps her learn and do new things. Easton said he loves to learn and see his friends. Then I interviewed Mr. Flanagan, a third grade teacher. Mr. Flanagan said he loves the relationships between students and when they “get something”, the excitement on their faces.

In fourth grade, I interviewed Grace and Sydney. Grace said she really likes learning new things and it makes her wonder and think. Then I interviewed Sydney. She said she likes learning a lot and we get to have fun with our friends and have fun activity days. I also interviewed Mrs. Zayac. She said she loves helping kids learn stuff they don’t know and the excitement when they get it, just like Mr. Flanagan!

Last but not least, I interviewed fifth grade! I interviewed Rae, Grace, and Caleb. Rae said she likes having nice teachers and good friends. Grace said she likes learning and being able to have fun with friends. Caleb said he likes “Kahoots!”, math, and playing with friends. I also interviewed Mr. Van Buskirk. He said he enjoys spending time with curious students and enjoys their enlightenments.

For my own experience, I like school because of math, teachers who are nice, and being able to get something afterwards. For example, there was a problem I was doing in math and Mr. VB said I was doing something wrong but had to figure it out, and then I figured it out and it felt really good. This is why teachers like teaching and kids like schooling.

"Festive Fridays At EWS!" by Sydney Meyers, Grade 4 "Festive Fridays At EWS!" by Sydney Meyers, Grade 4

Students and staff are very excited about our first Festive Friday at Eames Way School.

Earlier this week, I interviewed students in every grade about what they were planning to wear. Vera in kindergarten said that she is going to wear a Santa shirt and black pants. Next is first grade. Isabella in first grade is planning to wear a Christmas costume with jingle bells! In second grade, my brother Brayden is wearing a Santa hat and a sweatshirt with kitties and a jingle bell on it. In third grade, Lilliana will be wearing a Christmas dress and pajamas. In fourth grade, Evelyn and Anna are going to wear reindeer antlers and red and green shoes. Anna is going to wear Christmas pajamas. In fifth grade, Piper is going to wear Santa pajamas!

Teachers are getting festive on Fridays, too! Mrs. Milch said she’s going to wear a shiny sweatshirt. Ms. Bishop said she’s going to wear a red plaid dress and sparkly earrings! Many teachers are wearing festive sweaters and headbands. In the main office, Mrs. Quigley is wearing a necklace with lights!

This first Festive Friday was really fun and we know that future Festive Fridays will only get more and more festive!

Nurse Update - Health Holiday Season! Nurse Update - Health Holiday Season!

Here are a few tips to stay healthy and stop the spread of germs this holiday season:

  • Practice hand hygiene frequently with soap and water or hand sanitizer.

  • Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue. If a tissue is not available, cover them with an elbow, not a hand.

  • Clean high-touch surfaces in your home frequently with household disinfectants.

  • Keep your child home from school if they have a fever, especially in combination with a cough, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, congestion, runny nose, or sore throat. They should remain home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications.

  • Avoid social gatherings if you or your children are ill.

  • Proper handwashing, nutrition, adequate hydration, and regular sleep are the best ways to prevent illness. These strategies also shorten the duration of an illness.

Helpful tips for students to be successful at school:

  • Healthy Snack: Please pack a healthy snack EVERY DAY. Great snacks include easy-to-eat fruits and veggies like apples, oranges, carrots, and cucumbers as well as whole grain snacks including granola bars, and crackers. Cheese sticks and yogurts are another great option. These ideas help keep hungry bellies at bay and students ready to learn!

  • Water Bottle; Have your child bring a water bottle to school EVERY DAY. The students have access to the bottle fillers and can refill their water bottles as needed throughout the day.

  • Proper Sleep: “Sleep is the power source that recharges students during the night so they can thrive during the day.” (American Academy of Sleep Medicine)

  • Cold Weather Gear: We want to be able to send students outside for as long as possible despite the chilly temps. Please be sure students dress in layers for school- they need proper weather gear for outdoor play even when the inside temperature is warm. If students do not have appropriate weather/snow gear their outside activities may be somewhat limited so they stay warm and safe.

Volunteering at EWS Volunteering at EWS

In order to volunteer at EWS for school events or in the classroom, parents/guardians need to have an approved CORI on file. Last year began a new three-year cycle (2023-2026). All volunteers need to complete a CORI, even if you were approved prior to 2023. Please visit the Front Office to complete a CORI application and provide a copy of your license - it will only take a minutes. Applications are then reviewed by MPSD Central Office, which can take up to a week to process.
