Dear JRI Families,

Welcome to the October edition of The Nest Newsβ€”our third issue for the 2026–2027 school year!

First, a heartfelt thank you to all of our parents and guardians for your incredible partnership throughout these first two months. Whether you have supported our fall events, continued to reinforce strong home routines, or stayed closely connected with our teachers, your active involvement makes a world of difference. When home and school work together, our Eagles truly soar!

As the autumn season brings a fresh energy to our halls, this month’s newsletter highlights key October calendar dates, schoolwide updates, classroom learning features, and practical tips to keep our students thriving. We have a wonderfully busy month ahead packed with engaging events and fall initiatives, so I encourage every family to dive into this issue to explore all the upcoming activities and take full advantage of the opportunities to get involved.

Thank you for your continued dedication to making JRI such a vibrant and supportive community. As always, my door is open, and our entire team is here to support your family every step of the way.

Living the EAGLE Pillars: Focus on Achieve

At J.R. Ingram Elementary, every decision we make is guided by one core mission: helping every child learn, grow, and thrive. Built directly from your feedback on our parent survey, our EAGLE Pillars define our shared commitment to a positive school culture focused on academic excellence.

This month, we are turning our focus to our next essential pillar: ACHIEVE.

Academic success is a continuous journey of setting goals, tracking growth, and celebrating every step of progress along the way. Achieving our best requires a strong partnership between our school staff, our families, and our students.

Here is how we commit to driving achievement together:

J.R. Ingram Elementary Will:

β€’ Monitor student progress and use data to guide instruction.

β€’ Share academic progress with families regularly.

β€’ Provide interventions and enrichment opportunities based on student needs.

We ask that Families ACHIEVE by:

β€’ Reviewing progress reports, report cards, and school communications.

β€’ Supporting your child's academic goals at home.

β€’ Encouraging your child to do their best each day.

We ask Students to ACHIEVE by:

β€’ Setting meaningful academic goals.

β€’ Monitoring their progress and celebrating growth.

β€’ Working hard to achieve their personal best every day.

πŸ“Š How to Support Achievement at Home This Month

Take a few minutes each week to connect with your child about their learning goals and progress. Try asking questions like:

  • "What is a goal you are working on in class right now?"

  • "What is something you worked hard to master this week?"

  • "How can we celebrate the progress you made today?"

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and for helping our students reach new heights. When home and school work together, our Eagles truly soar!

🌾 October Home Learning Connections: Harvest Theme 🌾 October Home Learning Connections: Harvest Theme

Learning doesn't have to stop when the school bell rings each afternoon!

Each month, our grade-level teams will share simple, fun, and meaningful activities aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study (NCSCOS) that you can easily do at home.

For October, our theme is "Harvest!" Through this theme, families across all grade levels can explore natural cycles, math patterns, autumn reading, and scientific observations together.

Check out your child's grade-level activities below to see how you can cultivate curiosity and harvest learning right in your own home this month!
