Students are selecting courses for next year already! Here is a reminder of our process!
  • Here is a link to the presentation counselors shared with students on Tuesday 12/2.
  • Current 9th - 11th graders attended a Curriculum Day event on 12/5 to hear information from teachers regarding class choices for next year.
  • On 12/11 - We will have Signing Day where 9th-11th graders will get appropriate teacher signatures on their Course Selecting Sheets.
  • Students must enter their courses into Student Connect (directions are on the back of their Course Selection packets) by 11:59pm on 12/11.
  • Students must turn in their completed Course Selection Sheets (with teacher and parent/guardian signature) by Friday 12/12 to their current English teachers.
  • BHS's Curriculum Guide is a wonderful resource to help with course selections. It contains course descriptions, course numbers, and course videos!
  • Counselors will meet with students individually in January and February. Your patience during this very busy time is greatly appreciated.

Class of 2026 Update

Hi Seniors,

I'll keep it short and simple today. We have about 5 weeks of school left until the end of 1st semester. Keep your foot on the gas pedal and take care of business academically, and you'll set yourself up for an amazing 8th and final semester in high school. The finish line is close enough that we can see it, you just have to keep running to get there! I hope all of you have a happy and healthy Christmas break and enjoy time with friends and family.

Class of 2027 Update

Hello Class of 2027,

This is really more of a reminder than great words of wisdom. Please think carefully about your schedule for next year and make thoughtful selections. I will spend January and February calling you all down individually.

My other reminder is to truly have a great break! Get outdoors, enjoy friends and family, and use our 16 days off to rest, recover, and recharge. I hope all of you, and all of your family members, have a break filled with joy, laughter, and time spent with those people who mean the most to you.

Class of 2028 Update

Hi Sophomores,

As we head into break, I want to encourage you to take a few minutes to check in with each of your teachers and submit any missing assignments. Getting your work turned in now will help you relax and truly enjoy your time off—without school stress hanging over you.

Use the next few days to advocate for yourself, communicate with your teachers, and finish strong this semester. It makes a big difference going into the new year.

When we return from break, I’ll be meeting with each of you to review and finalize your junior year schedules. Taking care of missing work now will put you in a great position as we plan for next year.

Have a restful and enjoyable break, and I look forward to seeing you in the new year!

Best,
Mrs. Petit

Hello Class of 2029!

I will be looking forward to meeting with each of you over the next couple of months to discuss your course selections for next year! When we come back we will have 3 weeks left until the end of the semester, it is so important to finish strong!

I hope that each and everyone of you have a great winter break and enjoy some time off to relax, recharge and reset. It is so hard to believe that we are already to this point in the year, it really has gone by so fast! See you all next year!

Supporting Teen Mental Health During the Holiday Season

The holiday season can be a time of connection and celebration, but for many teenagers, it can also bring stress, pressure, and emotional ups and downs. Between school and social expectations, family dynamics, and disrupted routines, December can feel overwhelming. As parents and caregivers, your support and presence can make a tremendous difference during this busy time of year.

Here are a few ways to help your teen stay grounded and emotionally healthy this season:

1. Keep expectations realistic
Teens often feel pressure to be cheerful, social, or “in the holiday spirit,” even when they’re tired or stressed. Let them know it’s okay to feel however they feel.

2. Maintain routines when possible
Sleep, nutrition, movement, and downtime are the foundation of good mental health. Even with holiday events, help your teen keep a basic rhythm to their days.

3. Create space for calm
Encourage small moments of rest like listening to music, taking a walk, baking, drawing, or simply having tech-free time. These breaks help regulate mood and energy.

4. Be present and check in
Ask open ended questions like, “How are you feeling about the next few weeks?” or “What’s stressing you out right now?” Even brief conversations help teens feel seen and supported.

5. Model balance
Teens mirror the adults around them. Showing healthy boundaries, managing your own stress, and saying no when needed gives them permission to do the same.

As we wrap up 2025, please know that our counseling team is here to support both students and families. If you notice your teen feeling overwhelmed, withdrawing, or struggling more than usual, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Wishing you and your family a healthy, calm, and meaningful holiday season.
