"I’M A CHEMISTRY GUY. I BELIEVE YOU’VE GOT TO PLAY TOGETHER TO HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN.”
- Tony Gwynn
Good Afternoon, CUSD,
Spring Recess is finally here. It’s been a very busy week in the district and the break is well-deserved!
While academics is our core mission, we continue to focus on a comprehensive approach to student well-being. Last week CMS hosted its annual 6th grade Drug Prevention program in collaboration with Safe Harbor Coronado and a team of over 75 volunteers. This program is an emotional and important lesson for our middle school students and we are so grateful to all of the volunteers, including our local Fire and Police departments, that come out every year to run this event.
At CHS the juniors and seniors participated in another very emotional and important event that is organized every two years by CHS ASB. “Every 15 Minutes” is a two-day high-impact educational experience sponsored by the California Highway Patrol. Read more about the program on the CHP website.
Village students and PTO combined physical health and fundraising at the annual Jogathon held throughout the day today. Congrats to everyone on a very successful 30th annual event!
We would not be able to accomplish any of the above experiences for our students without the time and talent of our amazing community partners; Safe Harbor, PTO, CPD, CFD, and countless parent volunteers. We are grateful for the support and collaboration from our greater community. As Mr. Gwynn reminds us in the quote above, when we play together, we win. Go CUSD, Go PADRES!
Enjoy a safe and restful break and we look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday, April 6th.
Respectfully,
Karl J. Mueller

Ed Tech Parent Series
SDCOE is excited to announce the upcoming Educational Technology Parent Series, a free virtual learning opportunity open to all parents and educators across our region. This series is designed to support families and school communities in navigating educational technology and resources that empower student success.
As our educators, parents, and community come together to connect, challenge, and champion our students, we are humbled by the outpouring of compliments. What a positive testament to our CUSD family!
- Jessica Overschmidt is a fantastic IEP case manager. She is working hard with her teacher colleagues to collect and analyze data and make appropriate educational decisions for her students that are based on the data and helping students move towards independence. Her communication with colleagues and team members is exemplary, and we are grateful to have her as part of our amazing CMS special education team!
Click here to recognize an employee or volunteer who goes above and beyond to make a difference. Those who are "caught" will receive a copy of the positive words that were shared about them and a "Caught Being Awesome" decal. Please take a minute or two to brighten someone else's day!
