Stay on Track with Our Tiger Drop-Off & Pick-Up Plan

For students who are being transported to or from school by car, please note:

  • Cars must enter the car-line from Charles Street.

  • Cars cannot block the bus loop entrance and exit.

  • If the car line extends longer than the access road, please circle around the block. This safety precaution is to prevent a back up on Charles Street. You cannot idle on the road or go into the church parking lot to wait.

  • The access road is one lane only. Cars will stay in one line and pull as far up the sidewalk as possible; unless otherwise directed by a staff member.

  • Staff will be outside to assist students getting in and out of the car. Adults should remain in the vehicle. The line must move quickly to ensure we can fit all the cars in our loop as they arrive.

Drop-Off

  • Drop off doors open at 8:35 am. The school day begins at 8:45 am. Please arrive no earlier than 8:20 am. as staff are trying to park.

  • The Torringford West entrance will be gated. Parent cars will not be able to enter from Torringford West.

Pick-up

  • If you are planning to pick-up your student from school, you must send a note with your student including the first and last name of your student, the date, and the person who will be picking the student up. Any student who does not have a note will be put on their bus.
  • Pick-up doors open at 3:40 pm and close at 3:55 pm. Please arrive no earlier than 3:30 pm.
  • Families that pick up regularly will receive a car-rider tag. Please hang the tag visibly on the rearview mirror.

  • We would like to stagger the time you come. This will help keep the line from backing into the road.

    • Students with the last name beginning with A-L please pick up at 3:40 pm.

    • Students with the last name M-Z please pick up at 3:50 pm.

  • Please do not arrive early, as the doors will not be open and traffic will cause a safety hazard.

  • Staff will be on the sidewalk to help students get to the cars.

  • Be prepared to show your ID to staff.

*Any dismissal changes should be received by emailing the office at TFDoffice@torrington.org by 2 pm. No student will be dismissed from the main office after 3 pm; please plan accordingly.

**Students can ONLY travel with someone who is authorized to pick them up. Please make sure your contact information is up to date with the main office. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this important safety matter.

For safety reasons, it is best for students to wear sneakers every day, especially if they plan to use our awesome playscape. In the winter, students love to play in the snow; snow gear is required.
