We are holding our Pre-UIL for woodwind/brass ensembles and percussion solos on Monday, February 12th. Students will perform for a judge to get a rating and feedback to use to continue to prepare for UIL on February 17th at Davenport HS. Students need to dress nice and report to their performance room 10 minutes before their performance time.

The UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest is on Saturday, February 17th at Davenport HS. Please check performance times carefully here. Dress is business casual. Students need to arrive 45 minutes before their performance time to find their room and warm up. A map of the campus is below. Results will be posted here and here.

Students that earn a 1st division rating on a solo or ensemble will earn a letter jacket if they have not already done so. Students that play a Class 1 solo (from memory) or and Class 1 ensemble and earn a 1st division rating will advance to the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest at the end of May in Austin, TX. Their picture will be added to our wall of fame in the band hall.

All ensembles will also be performing at the Casino Night on February 24th in the evening.

We are hosting the Hosting TCGC Davenport Winter Guard Competition on March 2nd at Davenport HS. This is a large fundraiser that benefits the entire band program, and we need your help! Starting at 9:45 am on that Saturday, we will have several shifts of all kinds of jobs that need to be filled. Please consider signing up at the link below.

Invoices for past due band and color guard fees were handed out to students in class last Tuesday. Obligations for past due fees will be turned in to the front office at Spring Break. Fees can be paid here. Please email Mr. Keyes at jeffrey.keyes@comalisd.org if you have any questions or concerns.

We are having a mandatory trip meeting on April 15th at 6:30 pm. Please mark your calendars. A parent and the student going on the trip must attend this meeting.

Below is a link to the rehearsal schedule for Wind Ensemble though the end of April. Each of these rehearsals are very important as we have less time to prepare for UIL and our Tobin Center performance than normal with UIL Solo and Ensemble being later in the year and UIL Concert and Sight Reading being earlier in the year.

Our 2nd annual Casino Night is Saturday, February 24th at the Knights of Columbus Club Mikulski Hall. More info can be found on the flyer below. You can purchase tickets (buy in) at the link below. You save $10 if you buy in before the event.
