Principal's Message
Dear Falcon students and families,
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and managed to stay warm as we experienced some truly unpredictable Alberta fall weather, complete with cooler temperatures and some incredible winds! Despite the changing weather, there continues to be so much to celebrate at Bev Facey! This past week, we had the opportunity to recognize and celebrate our Grade 12 Volleyball players during Senior Night, acknowledging their dedication, leadership, and contributions to our Falcons Volleyball program. An IMMENSE shout-out to our incredible Falcons Cross Country Running Team, who represented Bev Facey exceptionally well at the ASAA Provincial Championships this past weekend! Leading the way was Milo Anderson, who was crowned Alberta Provincial Champion in the Junior Boys division! What an outstanding accomplishment! Congratulations as well to Jake Dawson, who earned an impressive bronze medal in his respective category, and to our four female runners, who all finished in the top half of their respective competitions! We are incredibly proud of every one of these athletes for their determination, perseverance, and outstanding representation of our school on the provincial stage. A huge thank you to all our coaches, staff, families, and supporters who continue to make these incredible experiences possible for our students.
As we look ahead, there is plenty to be excited about at Facey! With just three weeks remaining before our November break, our classrooms are buzzing with learning, projects, and important assessments as students continue to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. Beyond the classroom, our extracurricular programs, athletics, clubs, and student leadership activities continue to provide wonderful opportunities for our Falcons to connect, contribute, and pursue their passions. We encourage all students to stay focused, remain engaged, and make the most of the exciting opportunities ahead!
We would also like to extend a warm invitation to all Bev Facey parents and caregivers to join us for our next School Council meeting on Tuesday, October 20, at 6:00 p.m. in the Bev Facey Library. School Council is a fantastic opportunity to connect with school administration, learn more about what is happening at Facey, share your perspectives, and have a voice in supporting our school community. Whether you have attended before or are considering joining us for the first time, we would love to see you there! Please refer to the School Council article later in this newsletter for additional information. This Opportunity Wednesday, our teachers will engage in collaborative professional learning and planning, exploring, reflecting upon, and highlighting their current practices surrounding Success Criteria as a key pillar of student engagement. Through sharing effective strategies and building upon existing practices, teachers will continue to strengthen instruction, enhance student understanding of learning expectations, and support greater student ownership of their learning and success.
Additionally, Bev Facey will serve as a voting location for the upcoming Referendum. To ensure a safe and organized environment for both our students and community members, voting will take place in our South Gym, with voters using a designated entrance separate from our student entrances. Student and voter areas will remain separated throughout the day. A portion of the staff parking lot nearest the school will also be reserved for voters, so we ask students to refrain from parking in the staff parking lot. As a further reminder, we ask all families to please avoid driving through the staff parking lot when dropping off students. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone visiting our school.
As always, I am incredibly proud of the energy, enthusiasm, and sense of community that make Bev Facey such a special place to learn and grow. Our students continue to impress us with their accomplishments, and our dedicated staff work tirelessly to create meaningful opportunities for every Falcon to succeed. Thank you to our families for your continued encouragement, partnership, and support. Together, we are building a school community where students feel connected, supported, and inspired to pursue excellence.
As always, if you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Wishing everyone a fantastic week ahead! Go Birds!

Bev Facey School Council
Bev Facey's School Council meets this upcoming Tuesday, October 20, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in our school library. Our council is vital to our school community, and we would love to see as many parents as possible attend. This next meeting will see our new council discuss the use of the Alberta School Council grant provided by the Alberta Government. Our council is looking for input on how to put this fund to good use. Last year they secured a successful parent's workshop provided by Saffron, and are looking for similar suggestions for this year. If you have an idea on how you feel the grant should be leveraged please contact the school council by their school email:

Please peruse the agenda from last meeting, our Trustee's report, and the meeting presentation via the PDF Link below the article. We love having our parents physically attend, but also have a hybrid approach to our meetings. If you would like to attend virtually please access the link below:
