College Spotlight: I Love Wisconsin! 🧀 College Spotlight: I Love Wisconsin! 🧀

This week's colleges are actually four smaller, liberal arts Wisconsin schools that you may or may not be familiar with! For those seeking adventure away from the east coast (on a prairie perhaps?), consider traveling to the midwest and remember the value that experiences outside of our comfort zone have on our personal growth and world views.

  1. Beloit College - A college older than the state itself, this small liberal arts school of 1000 students draws students from 43 states and 44 countries. Those numbers alone indicate that this college does not have a 'type' of student, but rather students who are not afraid to venture out on their own to create an inclusive environment. With dedicated faculty who ensure students engage in internships opportunities, students find success through personalized programming. Beloit's Center for Entrepreneurship (CELEB) offers a recording and tv studio, a maker's lab, and a lounge to replicate creative spaces at Fortune 500 companies.
  2. Lawrence University - Access to a vibrant arts city, new athletics facilities, a world-class conservatory, and miles of nature in a local state park, Lawrence offers something for everyone. Particularly impressive is the philosophy of the Dean of the Conservatory who stated, "Our goal is to nurture and empower students to find their unique musical voices to share with the world. To reach your musical potential, you will need to reach your intellectual potential." Therefore, students are encouraged to double major and explore interests outside of the music curriculum. Lawrence students are dynamic in personality and academic explorations, boasting 78 Watson Fellows at a College that Changes Lives!
  3. Ripon College - Rich in history, this small town school is finding new life after the pandemic thanks to the generosity of its alumni who are helping to fund a new STEM building and football stadium. With over 50% of students participating in athletics, involvement is key to success at this school of 800. Unique stories live in a campus that is bordered by a prairie, notably the college's largest classroom with lessons in conservation, and a cemetery!
  4. Marquette University - If Chicago feels a bit too large, but you still seek the livelihood of a midwestern city, Milwaukee might be the perfect fit! With a campus that feels self-contained while also immersed in the city, Marquette is a place where school-spirit is abound. Basketball is the heart of the school, while its accelerated health science majors shine academically. Did you know it is home to the only dental school in the state? At the core of this Jesuit school are the commitment to service and growing the whole person. This is reflected in the intentionally with which every space and building on campus is designed, including creating a culture of wellness at the newly renovated Rec Center.
