EPSO WEEK
November 9-13 is Early Postsecondary Opportunities (EPSO) Week in Tennessee. Early Postsecondary opportunities allow students to obtain postsecondary credit while still in high school. EPSO offerings vary but can include Dual Enrollment, Advanced Placement (AP) Access for All and Career and Technical Education (CTE) Industry Certifications. Our CTE pathways equip students with specific academic, technical, and professional skills necessary to be successful in their careers and lives. Our district offers 14 different programs of study within 10 career clusters and 19 industry certifications.
SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY WEEK
November 9-13 is National School Psychology Week. This year's theme, "Inspire Connection," recognizes the work that school psychologists do to help their communities seek out new ideas, effect change, and expand horizons for children and youth. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our team of school psychologists for all that they do on a daily basis to support the students, families and professionals in our district: Dr. Deidrah Edwards, Donna Jacobs, Meg Schaefer Pinto, Ciena Zuleta and Sarah Bagdadarian.
VETERANS DAY CLOSURE
Our schools and the Board of Education office will be closed on Wednesday, November 11 in observation of Veterans Day. This day is dedicated to recognizing and expressing our gratitude to the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. We encourage our students, families, and staff to take this time to reflect on the sacrifices made by our veterans and to participate in local events or activities that honor their service. Many of our schools will be hosting Veterans Day programs leading up to November 11.
THANKSGIVING LUNCH
We are excited to announce details about our annual Thanksgiving lunch, a cherished tradition that brings together students, families and staff to celebrate the season of gratitude and community. The middle schools will host their lunches on Wednesday, November 18 and the elementary school lunches are Thursday, November 19 (except Pleasant View Elementary School, which is hosting its lunch on Friday, November 20). Family members are invited to eat lunch at our schools on these days. The cost for an adult holiday meal is $7. Our schools will share additional information with their families about serving times and other guidelines and procedures.
