Principal Update 9/16/24
Good Morning Memorial Families,
We are thrilled to invite families in this week for Curriculum Nights. The goal for the hour that we will spend together is to help all of you develop a stronger sense of the day to day at both Memorial as well as in your child's classroom. The night will be broken into two parts. For the first 25 minutes of your hour, there will be a presentation held in the cafeteria by Lauren and myself. We will introduce the grade level team and any service providers in attendance, and then we will share information about school wide processes and updates to student progress reporting. The second part of the evening will be in your child's classroom where the classroom teacher will give a presentation on the class and curriculum for the grade. There will be an opportunity to ask questions.
To help the night go smoothly, we ask the following from our families
1. This year the night is an adult-only event. Please reach out to me directly if there is a hardship for your family. Teacher will be sending presentations home electronically after the night as well if you are unable to attend.
2. Remember that this night is an informational night, not a time to discuss your child. We respectfully ask that if you have questions specific to your child or have something that you want to share wth the teacher, that you set up a separate time to meet, talk on the phone, or zoom. We are always willing to meet with you throughout the year, but at a public event like this, we prefer to keep the conversations focused on the curriculum and classroom and not on individual children. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
3. The book fair will be open throughout the night. Stop in after the open house, and if you are here for back to back, you can skip my presentation and shop in peace in between.
4. Please do not go straight to the classrooms before we send you up. Teacher are preparing for the night and will not be available ahead of their presentation time.
We look forward to a terrific night of time with all of our families and hope that you will find the evening informative and helpful.
As a reminder, this Friday there is no school for students as the teachers have a professional development day. Have a terrific week!
Warmly,
Wendy
School Hours
Our school hours are 8:45am-3:15pm. Drop off begins at 8:45 and students who arrive after 9:00am are considered tardy. We will begin dismissal right around 3:15pm.
Due to the hectic nature of the late afternoon, we will no longer be allowing parent dismissals from the main office after 2:45pm. If your child has an appointment, please plan to dismiss him/her earlier, or make use of our pick up line at 3:15pm. Thank you for understanding.
Arrival And Dismissal Procedures
Please click here for information about parent drop off and pick up. We have a complicated driveway and want to make sure our students are safe. We ask that you read through the instructions carefully if it is your first time dropping off or picking up from school.

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
September is childhood cancer awareness month and the Nipmuc student body is taking part in a month-long challenge to fill as many boxes as they can with non-perishable items to donate to the food pantry at Why Me and Sherry's House in Worcester, MA.
Why Me and Sherry's House is a nonprofit that helps families coping with childhood cancer. At this time, Sherry's House is hosting 4 families that are undergoing treatment for pediatric cancer. Help us by donating a non-perishable item! You or your Nipmuc student can bring in the item through the month of September in recognition of childhood cancer awareness month. Please leave all items in the front lobby.
Thank you in advance for your support! If you have any questions please reach out to Ms. Annunziata at jannunziata@mursd.org.
