Holy Rosary
NEWSLETTER | TERM 1| WEEK 1 6TH FEB 2026
Mission Statement
Every child at Holy Rosary is valued, known and heard, empowering them to develop their “God given” strengths in doing good for their world and forming enduring friendships to flourish in their joy filled childhood.
Dear Jesus,
We ask for your blessing on our school community.
Encircle us with your love and care.
Let our love for others guide our thoughts and actions.
Help Holy Rosary to be a place of sound learning and new discoveries.
Grant that those who belong, those who teach and those who learn will, like St Dominic, find you to be a
source of truth to be shared with all those we meet.
We ask through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen
Dear Parents, Friends, Guardians and Staff,
It is wonderful to have our school once again filled with the sounds of joy, play and learning. Thank you for such a positive first week. One of my highlights has been seeing our Kindergarten students begin their school journey and watching our Pre‑primary students confidently transition to a full five‑day week, often with more enthusiasm than their parents!
As always, good routines set our children up for success. I encourage families to consider how their child is transitioning back into healthy sleep habits.

Parent Information Sessions
Next week, I warmly invite you to our Parent Information Sessions (Pre‑primary to Year 6) on Tuesday evening from 6.30pm.
These sessions help build a strong partnership between home and school—and we promise to keep the PowerPoint transitions to a minimum.
As the children know, my role is simple: keep them safe, keep them learning, and add a bit of fun along the way.
Morning Arrival and Supervision
Our school gates open at 8:10am each morning. Supervision officially begins at 8:15am in the Undercover Area. Year 6 gate opens at 8:25 am and 3pm.
Any child arriving before 8:15am must remain seated in the Undercover Area until dismissed for class.
Parents of students in Years 3–6 may wait in the Undercover Area (not outside classrooms).
Children in Kindergarten and Pre‑primary remain under the supervision of their parents until they are handed directly to their classroom teachers. This ensures a calm and safe start to the day for our youngest learners.
For the safety of all students, children are not permitted to play on the Year 1 playground or use sporting equipment before school, as these areas are unsupervised. The same applies after school—once the bell rings, responsibility shifts to parents (who may or may not be met with requests to go on parent rosters or help the P and F busy bee).
Discovery Kids have an exclusive license for the Year 1 playground from 3:30pm onwards and all school gates are locked at this time.
Sip and Crunch
As part of our healthy eating focus, we participate in Sip & Crunch. Families are encouraged to send fresh fruit or vegetables and a water bottle each day. More information is available on the Sip & Crunch website. https://www.crunchandsip.com.au/families#what-to-pack-what-not-to-pack
Communication
Holy Rosary has a clear communication framework that supports respectful, timely and effective communication between home and school.
While we strive to support families as best we can, please remember the school is not an emergency service, and in line with Work Health and Safety regulations and our teachers’ EBA, staff are not on call/email outside of their working hours.
Urgent matters should be directed to the school office on 9203 4500.
Our aim is that staff will acknowledge emails or digital communication within two business days. If the matter requires investigation or follow‑up, a full response will be provided within five business days.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain a safe school and setting our children up for the conditions for quality learning .
Kind regards,
Michael O'Dwyer
Principal
Reminder: Parent Information Night – Tuesday 10 February
A friendly reminder that our Parent Information Night for families from Pre‑Primary to Year 6 will take place this Tuesday, 10 February.
This evening is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and hear about the learning journey ahead for 2026.
Session Times:
6:00pm – 6:30pm
6:30pm – 7:00pm
Both sessions are identical, so please attend the time that best suits your family. Sessions will be held in one of your child’s year‑level classrooms.
Please note: the separate Year 6 Camp Information Session will be scheduled for a later date.
Parking Reminder – Drive Through Pick-Up Area
We kindly remind families that the drive through pick-up zone located outside the Hall and After School Care area is a no parking zone. This area is designated to keep traffic flowing safely and to ensure the wellbeing of all students during pick-up times.
Parents and carers are asked to please respect the yellow no-parking lines at all times and avoid stopping or parking in this area, even briefly. Your cooperation helps us maintain a safe environment for our children, families, and staff.
Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support in keeping our school community safe.
Scholatic Book Club
Numero Club – Friday Mornings (Years 3–6)
Numero Club will be starting on Friday morning in Week Two for students in Years 3 to 6. This will be held in the Library from 7:40am to 8:15am.
Numero is a fun and engaging card game that helps students develop important mathematical skills, including number sense, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and mental arithmetic, all while enjoying friendly competition with their peers.
We kindly ask families to ensure students do not arrive before 7:40am, as supervision will not be available prior to this time. The school will open slightly before 7:40am to allow students to enter safely.
We look forward to seeing many enthusiastic mathematicians join us on Friday mornings!

School Crossing Safety
eRideable Legistation
Our School is committed to ensuring that our students are empowered to travel to and from school safely. We recognise that eRideable devices such as eScooters and eBikes are a popular mode of transport accessible to many within our School community.
Equally, our School recognises that eRideables are subject to legislation that prohibit a child under the age of 16 from utilising these devices.
Therefore, from Monday 2 February 2026, students who are under 16 years of age will not be permitted to use or store an eRideable device on school premises.
Examples of eRideables include but are not limited to:
• eScooters
• eSkateboards
• hoverboards
• eSkates
• eUnicycles
The Road Safety Commission has developed a webpage with information about the Road Traffic Code (legislation) which can assist individuals in understanding their personal obligations where eRideables are concerned.
For more information about eRideables please click on the link below.
We thank you in advance for your support of this initiative which will ensure the ongoing safety of our students and broader school community.
