💙 Happy Labor Day Weekend, Bobcats! 💙 Happy Labor Day Weekend, Bobcats!

We hope our BAS families are enjoying the long weekend! Just a reminder that there is NO SCHOOL tomorrow, Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday, rested and ready for a great week!

September is shaping up to be a busy and exciting month at BAS. Bobcat athletics are officially moving from practices into games, Hot Lunch is getting underway, and we have Health Screenings, Fall Picture Day, Field Day, and more coming up!

As our school year gets into full swing, please continue checking the Bobcat Bulletin each week for important dates, reminders, and opportunities to get involved.

Enjoy your extra day together, and we’ll see our Bobcats on Tuesday!

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other,

just as in Christ God forgave you.” — Ephesians 4:32

As we settle into the school year, friendships are growing, teams are working together, and our classrooms are becoming little communities. This week, let’s challenge our Bobcats to choose kindness—in their words, their actions, on the playground, in the classroom, and on the court or field. Small acts of kindness can make a BIG difference!

Reminders 📌

  • Hot Lunch Begins This Week! Our regular Hot Lunch program is officially underway! A HUGE thank you to the parent volunteers who make this program possible. Please remember that Hot Lunch depends on our volunteers. If we do not have enough volunteers scheduled for a particular day, Hot Lunch will be canceled for that day and students will need to bring a lunch from home. If you’re able to help, please consider signing up—we appreciate you!
  • Snack Sale: Snacks are available for purchase on Fridays, including chips, Ring Pops, candy bars, and more. Prices range from $0.50–$2.00. Students may bring cash or charge snacks to their school account. If your student has permission to charge, please make sure their teacher knows.

  • Jewelry: Just a reminder that jewelry is not permitted at school per BAS policy. Thank you for helping your student follow our school dress code each day.

💙 Parent Partnership: Pause Before You Fix

When our children come home upset about a grade, a friend, a teacher, or something that happened at school, our first instinct is often to jump into fix-it mode. Instead, try starting with: “Do you want me to listen, help you think through it, or help you solve it?”

Sometimes kids simply need a safe place to vent. Other times, they need help deciding what to do next. Encourage them to share the whole story, consider another person's perspective, and think about what part of the situation they can control.

A few things to try:

  • ❤️ Listen first—without immediately reacting.
  • 💬 Ask, “What happened next?” or “What do you think you should do?”
  • 🤔 Remember that we're often hearing one side of the story.
  • 🌱 Help your child decide what they can handle independently and when an adult truly needs to step in.

When home and school approach problems as a team, we help children learn that challenges can be worked through—not just fixed for them.

Stay tuned for more Parent Partnership tips directly from our BAS teachers! 💙💛
