Have a Wonderful Spring Break!

Wednesday, April 16, 2025
Dear Avon Lake City Schools Community,
Spring break has arrived, and with tremendous timing, as we approach the final few weeks of the 2024-2025 school year, an opportunity to pause is certain to help recharge our efforts to finish strong. Students are away from school beginning tomorrow, Thursday, April 17th, and break for the entire district begins Friday, April 18th through Sunday, April 27th. Classes resume for the entire Avon Lake City Schools on Monday, April 28th.
Reductions Timeline Presented at Board of Education Meeting
At the regular meeting of the Board of Education yesterday, Tuesday, April 15th, a presentation was delivered that included a slide that we have posted here. Outlined within is the timing of the district’s levy cycles, the corresponding outcomes, and the operations reductions associated with this interval. Please keep in mind when viewing this information that the ALCS leadership team has done its very best with available funding and resources to preserve and provide an ALite education. Please see below.
Conversations with Superintendent Joelle Magyar
The response to our first video sequence has prompted the production of several other video Conversations with Superintendent Magyar. Special thanks to Mr. Andrew Gardner and his talented team of videographers and editors who make these videos available and so professional. Enjoy Superintendent Magyar's conversation with two of our graduating seniors!
Bike Week and Bike Rodeo Events Coming in May!
Spring is on its way, along with sunshine-filled days, and the ALCS will feature several bike-themed events for our PreK-8 students throughout the district during the month of May. The district will host a fun Bike Rodeo event on Saturday, May 17th from 9-11:30 a.m. at the North High School parking lot. In case of inclement weather, the Bike Rodeo will be moved indoors to the Auxiliary Gym.
During the Week of May 19th, all elementary schools and Learwood will celebrate Bike Week during which PreK-8 students along with their families are encouraged to ride their bikes to and from school. Both events are great opportunities to promote physical activity, bike safety, family fun, and school spirit! We hope to see you then!
Don’t forget our final Coffee Talk on Thursday, May 1st, upon returning from Spring Break! Until that time, I hope you have an awesome, relaxing, and enjoyable Spring Break!
Sincerely,
Joelle M. Magyar
Superintendent
