6th grade Science with Mrs. Young

Mrs. Young’s sixth grade science students have been learning about critical minerals during National Earth Science Week. In groups, students selected a critical mineral to learn more about, surveyed people asking questions about their mineral, and are in the process of writing podcast episodes to make people aware of their findings, including what can happen if the supply chain fails.

5th grade Math with Mrs. Peterson

Mrs. Peterson’s math classes took learning to new heights using our Vertical White Boards (VWBs) to explore decimals. Working in collaborative teams, students used foam manipulatives to build visual models of decimals before representing them in expanded form. They then put their skills into practice on the boards, solving addition and subtraction problems together. Beyond the math, peer collaboration was a highlight of the lesson, with students actively supporting one another and staying energized through hands-on, standing instruction. As one student shared, "This was fun today!" A heartfelt thank you to Ross Environmental Services for funding these whiteboards through a generous community grant.
