Message from the Principal

Dear Academy Families,

At Divine Wisdom Catholic Academy, we believe that Student Council plays an important role in building a strong, connected, and vibrant school community. It provides our students with opportunities to develop leadership skills, practice responsibility, share their ideas, and make a positive difference in the lives of their classmates.

We are incredibly proud of all the students who had the courage and confidence to run for positions on the Student Council Executive Board. Putting yourself forward as a leader takes initiative, dedication, and a willingness to serve others, and we applaud every student who participated in this process.

We encourage all our Student Council representatives to bring their ideas, creativity, and enthusiasm to our meetings. We look forward to seeing them collaborate, listen to one another, and work together to plan activities and initiatives that will make this school year fun, engaging, and memorable for everyone!

When students have a voice in their school community, they develop a greater sense of belonging and understand the importance of working together toward a common goal. We look forward to an exciting year of student leadership, school spirit, and community building at Divine Wisdom Catholic Academy!

Warm regards,

Miriam Bonici

Beginning the Week of September 18th, Academy students in grades 1-8 will take the first of three Reading diagnostic assessments. Kindergarten students will take the assessment at a later date (9/22) as they are still getting the hang of being kindergartners! i-Ready uses a scale to measure student performance indicating the skills they have already mastered and the skills they need to work on throughout the year. Parent reports will be sent home in October. It is important that all students try their best so that we are able to collect good data and track academic growth throughout the year. Student Personal Instructional Paths are set from this first diagnostic.

Understanding Your Child’s i-Ready Diagnostic Report

We encourage you to take some time to review your child’s i-Ready Diagnostic Report. This report provides valuable information about your child’s current performance in reading and helps identify areas of strength, as well as skills that may need additional support. Based on the results, i-Ready creates a personalized instructional path designed to address your child’s individual learning needs and help them continue to grow academically.

During Friday’s Professional Development Day, our teachers spent time reviewing and analyzing student data, including i-Ready results, to better understand students’ needs and plan meaningful, targeted instruction. This information helps teachers identify learning gaps, recognize areas of progress, and make informed decisions about the strategies and resources that will best support each student.

It is important to remember that i-Ready is one piece of the larger picture of your child’s academic progress. Teachers consider these results alongside classroom performance, daily assignments, assessments, observations, and other measures of student learning. Together, these data points provide a more complete understanding of each child and help us make informed instructional decisions.

At Divine Wisdom Catholic Academy, we are committed to meeting students where they are and providing opportunities for every child to grow and reach their full potential. By working together as a school and family, we can continue to support your child’s academic journey.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support!

Annual Trunk or Treat at Divine Wisdom Catholic Academy!👻🎃

It’s time for some Halloween fun! We are excited to announce our Annual Trunk or Treat, which will take place in our schoolyard. This is a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together and create a fun and memorable experience for all our children.

We invite parents to participate by decorating their cars with creative Halloween themes and handing out candy to our students. We can’t wait to see the festive decorations and creativity our families bring to this special event!

Here’s how you can participate:

  • Sign-Up Genius: Two spots will be available per grade for parents who would like to decorate their cars and distribute candy. Sign-up will open later this week, and a text message will be sent to families once registration is live.

  • Additional Participants: If your child’s grade is already filled and you would still like to participate, please let us know. We will do our best to accommodate additional interest!

  • Parent Volunteers Needed: We are looking for two parent volunteers to help organize and coordinate the event. If you are interested in volunteering, please email mainoffice@dwcaonline.org.

We are so grateful for the enthusiasm and generosity of our families. Events like Trunk or Treat help strengthen our school community and create joyful memories for our children.

Thank you in advance for helping us make this a spooktacular day for all our students! We look forward to celebrating with you!

Academy Email Addresses

Dear Divine Wisdom Families,

Strong communication between home and school is an essential part of creating a successful school experience for every child. When parents and teachers communicate openly and work together, we are better able to understand each child’s needs, celebrate their successes, and address concerns before they become larger challenges.

We encourage parents to reach out whenever you have a question, concern, or important information that may help us better support your child. Communication is most effective when it is timely, respectful, and focused on finding solutions together.

There are several ways to stay connected with the Academy:

  • Email your child’s teacher when you have questions about classroom learning, assignments, or your child’s day-to-day experience. Your child's teacher should always be your first point of contact.
  • Contact the main office when you have questions regarding school policies, attendance, schedules, procedures, or other general concerns.
  • Reach out to the administration when a concern requires additional support or cannot be resolved at the classroom level.

A Quick Reference list of our Shared Email Boxes (Gmelius) is provided below, which helps ensure that messages are received, tracked, and organized. Families may still call, but email is now the preferred method of contact.

Please include your child’s name, grade, and class number when emailing.

We are always here to help!
