Message from Ms. Biordi
As we head into a new week, I wanted to share a Positivity Project quote connected to our upcoming trait: βEnthusiasm is not the same as just being excited. One gets excited about going on a roller coaster. One becomes enthusiastic about creating and building a roller coaster.β This message is such a powerful reminder of the joy that comes from meaningful learning. It also speaks to how lucky we are to be part of the Sargent community, where our students truly love coming to school, engaging in their learning, and taking pride in what they create each day. We saw that same enthusiasm on full display at our Open House this past week. It was wonderful to see such strong attendance and so many families celebrating student learning together.
A huge thank you to our PTO and all of our volunteers for running such a successful Book Fair! Weβre also looking forward to an exciting Friday ahead with our Drama Club performance of Aladdin, which is sure to be an incredible show, and 5th Grade Field Day at Beacon High School, where students from all four elementary schools will come together for a morning of fun and games. Itβs hard to believe we are heading into the final two months of the school year, there is so much to look forward to! π

P2 Trait of the Week: Purpose & Enthusiasm
This week, (April 27-May 1), our school community will focus on the character strength of Purpose. Purpose means having beliefs about the meaning of life and feeling that your life has a purpose. Itβs about wanting to be part of something bigger than yourself. People with a sense of purpose believe they are here for a reason. That reason can be different for everyone β it might be inventing something new, bringing joy through art or music, or raising kind and responsible children. Having a clear purpose helps people stay strong and courageous, even in difficult times. It also encourages them to act with kindness and love, even when itβs hard. When people feel connected to something greater, their lives have more meaning and fulfillment.
Next week (May 4-8), our school community will focus on the character strength of Enthusiasm. Enthusiasm means approaching life with energy and excitement, and it helps bring joy to those around us. When people are enthusiastic, they show excitement about tasks, making it easier for them and others to stay involved. Enthusiastic people often inspire others, bringing fresh ideas and helping groups work better together. Enthusiasm is contagious! It can lead to more success and happiness for both individuals and groups. When one person shows enthusiasm, it can encourage others to feel more energized and motivated, too.
Kindergarten Parent Orientation
We look forward to welcoming families to our Kindergarten Parent Orientation on May 6th from 5:15β6:15 PM in the Sargent Auditorium. This event is for parents/guardians of current UPK students and newly registered kindergarteners. During the orientation, parents/caregivers will have the opportunity to meet our teaching team, learn about the kindergarten school day, daily routines, and what to expect in the year ahead. This is a parents-only event designed to provide helpful information and answer any questions as you prepare for this exciting transition into kindergarten.
TREP$ Marketplace - May 31
Save the date for our upcoming TREP$ Marketplace at the Beacon Farmers Market! Our student entrepreneurs in TREP$ Club are excited to officially launch the small businesses they have been working so hard to create, and they canβt wait to share their products with the community. Through the TREP$ program, students experience the full journey of entrepreneurship, from brainstorming ideas and conducting market research to designing products, creating marketing plans, and managing finances. This hands-on learning opportunity empowers students to build confidence, develop real-world skills, and see their ideas come to life. We hope youβll join us in supporting our young business owners and celebrating their creativity, innovation, and hard work!
5th Grade: Too Good for Drugs Program
Weβre excited to share that our 5th grade students will be participating in the Too Good for Drugs program, and evidence-based prevention program taught by the Dutchess County Council for Addiction Prevention and Education (CAPE) and will take place during the school day throughout the month of June. Through engaging lessons, role-playing, and meaningful discussions, students will build confidence, strengthen decision-making skills, and learn strategies for setting goals and managing emotions. This program provides important information as students prepare for their transition to secondary school, supporting their ability to make safe and healthy choices. A letter will be sent home with additional details about the program.
