Pushes and Pulls

Kindergarten has been talking all about camping this week as we start the end-of-the-year camping theme in our classroom. In literacy, each student has begun writing camping stories and learning new camping vocabulary. In science, we have been learning about the forces of motion and learned about pushes and pulls, wrapping up with a fun experiment each student conducted within their small group. In math, students have been practicing counting by tens, ones, and counting on from a start number. The highlight of the week has been the ending of all formal assessments and taking time to review positive social skills and taking some time to become kind respectful classmates.

A Year in Review

We had another great week in 1st and 2nd grade. This week in Math, we have been reviewing topics we have learned throughout the school year. We also had another Cornucopia class where we learned how to make the garden comfortable for bugs.

We also did NWEA testing and I am so proud of all students and their hard work.

Bird Watching and Different Points of View

Students have finished NWEA testing and are back to hands-on math! Fourth graders are converting measurements, while third graders are building rectangles with unit squares.

Students did a great job finishing their NWEA reading tests! We've been reading Divided Loyalties and practicing note-taking to highlight the perspectives of Patriots and Loyalists during the American Revolution.

We practiced bird watching with Kara from the Harris Center on Tuesday. The fourth grade got to visit GBS for a sneak peek into next year!

Summer Memories

For our final week in Library, we took time to reflect on our favorite library memories. In Kindergarten, we completed a library memory book and read some of our favorite books. In first and second grade, we headed outside to work on nature based research. We focused on our notices and wonders about the trees and leaves around us. In third and fourth grade, we explored bubble poetry where we blew bubbles and recorded our thoughts. We also completed our genre challenge! It has been a wonderful year in the library filled with many fun memories! Remember to continue reading and exploring the world around you over the summer!
